This is the most addictive and satisfying Pac-Man game ever, due to it's easy and infinite gameplay. It facilitates the franchise's basic rules of a Pac-Man game, as it changes the frightened ghost's moviments to slow down it's pattern while you encounter frightning power-ups and digital currency coins through your way. The different game visuals are high-quality and absolutely nice to look at, with a few of them referecing BANDAI NAMCO's other classic and popular Pac-Man games at that time. which makes it enjoyable for any long-time Pac-Man fan. It also is of course a 'easy to play but hard to master' game, occured by the inclusion of infinite mazes with more ghosts from old entrys and two ghost trains which is perfect for power-pellet combos. I recommend this over the mobile port, as it adds more and free content contrary to it. This is absolutely one of the go-to games whenever a Pac-Man fan gets bored!
unironically one of the best pacman games ever. taking the never ending runner formula and adjusting it to the style of pacman works way better then i ever thought it would. its simple and addictive and with the power ups it helps make each run feel different enough to make you wanna come back for more. an easy recommendation for any pac fan or anyone just wanting simple fun.
Until recently, the last PAC-MAN game I played came out in 1987 so I purchased PAC-MAN 256 along with some other newer ones to see what I've missed. It's a decent roguelite that offers meta progression by allowing you to use coins to buy and upgrade various powerups. You can find coins in the maze but the game will also reward you with coin packages if you keep playing. Completing random missions also nets more coins. Unlike older PAC-MAN titles, there are no levels in this game. Instead, it's an endless runner that's all about getting the highest score possible. The maze does change as you progress, however, and there are a couple of new ghost types, so the gameplay stays fresh for awhile. There is also a moving glitch (the game's name is based on a glitch that occurs in level 256 of the original PAC-MAN) that will instantly kill you if you get caught in it, so you're forced to move forward and plan accordingly. Fortunately, there are a number of useful powerups along with the power pills that can make clearing ghosts a lot easier. I generally found a use for most of these powerups but some are more helpful than others. Getting most of the achievements isn't too difficult but fully upgrading all the powerups is going to be a grind and I haven't completed that yet. This game is fun enough that I will return to it eventually. PAC-MAN 256 is one of the better PAC-MAN games available on Steam. It's more fun than several of the older ones I played long ago so I highly recommend it.
