MXGP 2020 – The Official Motocross Videogame, developed and published by Milestone S.r.l., stands as another installment in the long-running official series dedicated to professional motocross racing. It serves as both a simulation and a showcase for the real-world MXGP championship, bringing licensed riders, bikes, and circuits from the 2020 season into a virtual format. While the series has always walked a fine line between realism and accessibility, this entry takes a more grounded approach, offering refined physics, improved visuals, and a deeper sense of control. It’s an ambitious title that caters primarily to motocross enthusiasts, though newcomers may find its learning curve steeper than expected. At its core, MXGP 2020 captures the raw, unpredictable energy of dirt track racing—the bumps, slides, and shifting weight that make motocross uniquely demanding both in real life and on screen. From the moment you start your first race, the game’s physics-driven approach becomes apparent. Every jump, rut, and landing requires careful balance between throttle, brakes, and rider positioning. The terrain dynamically deforms as you race, creating grooves and uneven patches that can make or break your line during later laps. This feature, a hallmark of Milestone’s motocross series, adds a sense of authenticity and tension to every event. Controlling the rider and bike feels heavier than in previous installments, but also more responsive once you adapt to the rhythm. The handling encourages precision, rewarding players who learn to anticipate terrain rather than simply reacting to it. Small mistakes—hitting a jump at the wrong angle or braking too late before a turn—can send you tumbling, but mastering the bike’s weight distribution is immensely satisfying. It’s not an arcade racer; it’s a game that demands patience and finesse, traits that fans of simulation racing will appreciate. The career mode remains the centerpiece of the experience, allowing you to rise from local competitions to the pinnacle of the MXGP championship. It’s structured traditionally but with enough depth to sustain long-term play. You can sign contracts with real teams, manage sponsorships, and customize your rider’s equipment and performance settings. Each event contributes to your reputation, and as you progress, rivalries form with other riders on the circuit. While the career mode captures the essence of professional motocross, it suffers somewhat from repetition. The format doesn’t deviate much from race to race, and aside from a few managerial decisions, the focus stays squarely on racing itself. Still, for players who value authenticity over drama, the career progression feels rewarding. The inclusion of official tracks and riders gives every championship season a sense of legitimacy that few motocross games achieve. Beyond the main career, MXGP 2020 offers a suite of secondary modes that expand its longevity. The Time Attack mode lets players fine-tune their skills and test lap times, while the Playground mode provides a free-roaming environment where you can explore and practice without pressure. This mode, set in a scenic Norwegian landscape, allows you to experiment with jumps and terrain at your own pace, a welcome break from the intensity of competitive races. One of the most notable additions is the Track Editor, which gives players the ability to design and share custom circuits. It’s an impressive feature that fosters creativity and community engagement, though the interface can feel cumbersome at first. Despite this, user-generated content extends the game’s lifespan considerably, adding variety beyond the official championship routes. Graphically, MXGP 2020 benefits from Milestone’s continued use of the Unreal Engine, which provides detailed bikes, realistic lighting, and impressive terrain deformation effects. The tracks themselves feel alive, with dynamic weather, shifting mud textures, and flying debris that all enhance immersion. Riders and bikes are modeled faithfully, though some environmental details—crowds, background textures, and foliage—appear dated in comparison. On high-end PCs or next-generation consoles, the game maintains a smooth frame rate and reduced loading times, offering a visually pleasing experience that complements its simulation-driven gameplay. The audio design adds another layer of authenticity; the growl of engines, the crack of dirt under tires, and the sound of revs bouncing off the limiter all contribute to an atmosphere that feels raw and immediate. Despite its strengths, MXGP 2020 is not without flaws. The AI, while competitive, can sometimes behave erratically, cutting lines or colliding in ways that feel unfair. Certain tracks have overly punishing layouts where one small mistake can cost an entire race. The game’s physics, though improved, occasionally overcompensate—jumps can feel exaggerated, and mid-air control sometimes borders on unrealistic. Additionally, while the overall handling is rewarding, it may alienate casual players who prefer a more forgiving experience. The learning curve is steep, and even small errors are punished harshly until you master the nuances of control. Some fans of previous entries have also noted that, despite refinements, MXGP 2020 doesn’t radically innovate on its predecessors. It’s a polished evolution rather than a reinvention, which means returning players may find the changes incremental rather than transformative. Still, the game’s dedication to realism and authenticity makes it one of the most complete motocross experiences available. It manages to strike a careful balance between simulation depth and moment-to-moment excitement. When everything clicks—the terrain feels fluid, the bike reacts naturally, and your lines through corners are clean—MXGP 2020 delivers a level of satisfaction few racing games can match. The combination of licensed content, detailed physics, and polished presentation reinforces Milestone’s reputation as the premier developer in this niche. For devoted fans of the sport, it’s a must-play; for newcomers, it’s a demanding but rewarding introduction to the world of motocross. Ultimately, MXGP 2020 succeeds because it understands its audience. It’s not a game built for everyone—it’s built for those who value realism, patience, and mastery over flash and accessibility. It can be punishing, repetitive, and at times inconsistent, but its core experience—the sensation of fighting both your machine and the terrain—is exhilarating when it works. It might not revolutionize the franchise, but it refines it with confidence and polish. For players willing to invest time and effort, MXGP 2020 offers one of the most authentic off-road racing experiences in modern gaming, capturing the physicality, unpredictability, and thrill of motocross in a way that few other titles can match. the physics is suck, and they have the worst track deformation. But what i like in this game is just Romain Febvre moved to Kawasaki. That's it.

For the price of an energy drink when on sale, this game’s a steal. Didn’t even know it had all the bike customization which is sick. Just need to turn off HDR in the game files.
