Ok the graphics aren’t great but you get used to them. I few frame drops but they are rare but very bad when they do happen. I like all the modes, Could have done more but get it on sale for a couple bucks, it’s still a fun game and go to the community page to find some online matches.

MXGP2 – The Official Motocross Videogame, developed and published by Milestone S.r.l., represents the studio’s continued effort to create a motorsport simulation that respects the real-world sport rather than simplifying it for wider appeal. Built around the full 2015 FIM Motocross World Championship license, it brings officially sanctioned tracks, teams, riders, and bikes into a digital space, giving motocross enthusiasts the chance to step directly into a professional racing season. From the moment the game begins, it’s clear that authenticity is at the core of its design philosophy. The menus, race introductions, commentary style, and track layouts all reinforce that commitment to realism, emphasizing the sense of participating in a professional sporting event rather than an arcade-friendly fantasy. Where MXGP2 truly defines itself is in its handling and physics model. Milestone doesn’t treat dirt bikes as generic racing vehicles—every movement must account for balance, weight shifting, throttle control, braking distribution, suspension response, and terrain deformation. This means that learning to manage jumps, landings, tight corners, and muddy ruts is just as important as understanding track layout or bike power. The game forces players to think like real motocross riders, applying body positioning and momentum control to maintain race pace. For those accustomed to asphalt racers or arcade motocross titles, this learning curve can feel steep, but once mastered, it becomes rewarding. Every successful corner exit and well-timed jump feels earned, creating a deeper sense of personal improvement. Career mode provides the structure necessary to appreciate that progression. Starting with a modest contract and a lower-tier MX2 bike, you work your way up through championship seasons, gaining sponsors, improving equipment, and competing for a position in the premier MXGP class. There is a sense of forward momentum to the experience, not just in performance but in identity—customizable gear, bike liveries, and team associations help players feel invested in their racing persona. Other game modes, including Motocross of Nations, time trials, stadium races, and online multiplayer, broaden the experience and offer alternative ways to engage with the sport. Even without a complex narrative, the structure of training, qualifying, racing, and upgrading gives the game a satisfying career rhythm. Visually, MXGP2 delivers an uneven but respectable presentation. The track environments look rugged and lived-in, with subtle terrain shifts, flying dirt, and progressive wear that communicate the physicality of motocross racing. Rider and bike models are detailed enough to convey motion and intensity, and the camera work highlights jumps and collisions effectively. However, background crowds, textures, and lighting effects sometimes feel dated or flat, and the audio design—particularly engine sounds—lacks the depth and aggression expected from high-performance off-road bikes. Still, the sensory experience remains serviceable, and once races intensify, the technical shortcomings fade into the background as the player becomes absorbed in trying to maintain control. Artificial intelligence sits at the intersection of the game’s strengths and weaknesses. AI competitors are competent, aggressive, and capable of punishing mistakes, which supports the simulation tone. Yet they occasionally behave rigidly, sticking to racing lines even when collisions or dynamic terrain would realistically force them to improvise. These inconsistencies can break immersion, especially for players who value organic race flow. Online multiplayer was intended to solve this by providing more unpredictable competition, but fluctuating player populations, regional activity differences, and occasional connectivity issues can limit the longevity of that component. Because MXGP2 prioritizes realism, its audience naturally narrows. Those seeking an accessible, forgiving, high-speed motocross game may feel overwhelmed by the precision required. Success hinges less on raw speed and more on preparation—studying tracks, tuning suspension, understanding when to lean forward or back, and practicing until muscle memory forms. It’s a game that demands patience and intention, which makes it polarizing. But for riders, fans, or players who enjoy detailed racing simulations, the authenticity becomes its greatest achievement. The joy of nailing a rhythm section, defending a lead through a long series of corners, or gradually climbing the championship rankings can be immensely satisfying. In the end, MXGP2 stands as a focused, specialized, and earnest attempt to digitally recreate the world of professional motocross. It doesn’t reinvent the racing genre, and it struggles with presentation polish and accessibility, but it succeeds in capturing the strategy, difficulty, and adrenaline of dirt-bike competition. Milestone’s dedication to representing the sport with respect gives the game a distinct identity—one that rewards dedication and celebrates mastery rather than instant victory. For motocross enthusiasts or simulation-driven players looking for a challenging, content-rich racing experience, MXGP2 remains a compelling entry in its niche and a welcome tribute to the sport it represents.
