June 2025
Okay long story short this is hands-down the best ship building game out there and the only competition is From the Depths and it's just because it lets you basically build whatever you want... After you spend 50 hours watching tutorials and double the money you need to get this game. But now that I can yap, well... This game is a masterpiece that makes you realise two important things in life: 1. If you have a problem there's probably an asian guy out there who already fixed it years ago but didn't receive any recognition. 2. 90% of the games on steam aren't nearly as fun as they could be and it all could be fixed by letting people mod them. This game is just so simple and great it's unbelievably hard to explain why it is great, in fact it's so hard I had to completely rewrite this review 3 times and I still don't know what to write This game needs to be studied because it gives you so much freedom with its tools that I'm pretty sure every time you make a new design it's like starting a new Minecraft world, in the way that it's entirely up to you whether you'll speedrunner it and finish your build in 10 minutes or spend 20 hours building a single ship without having even decided what armament to use on it and if you thought this game isn't making you indecisive enough, well wake up because this game has a workshop A workshop that can either supply you with thousands of new parts that fit seamlessly into the game and historical builds, or can supply you with some crazier stuff like an RTX 3090 launcher or an engine that makes your ship supersonic or a 2000mm railgun that is actually pretty cool looking, ontop of so many historical and non-historical ship builds that I am starting to wonder how the hell does a game with around 100 players have this many Oh but that's not where the good things end, nuh-uh, you see for some reason the game is crazily optimised, so much so I can create a battleship the size of New York and cover it entirely in guns and still have better performance even while they're all firing than when I put more than 2 medium-sized guns on a ship in From the Depths Okay but you are going to buy this game, so what about the long-term, well... The game does get updates, not regularly but it seems the dev recently started taking ketamine because he pushed out two major updates this year already which considering his record is 2 updates in a year, yeah that's pretty good. The game sometimes just, kinda goes silent for a while and you start questioning if it will ever see an update again, but thankfully it does get updates periodically, and considering this is all developed by just one guy I am fine with getting just two major updates a year... Though one can dream. On the negative side, as I just said, the average is one or two updates a year, so if you want to come back every month for new content you'll feel like you're starving, but now that the game has pretty big multiplayer and a campaign even if this is all the major updates for this year it's DEFINITELY worth the price even when not on sale... Not to mention that if you are viewing this after the summer sale, the sales this game goes on are always small, unless you care about 3 bucks this much there's no point to wait.

As a veteran of Battleshipcraft and Warshipcraft I have had a long period of where I wanted a more indepth game like this. Well when I had seen this I was hesitant at first but then I spent a naval deployment getting the initial hang of things and soon after than I learned Carrier were coming to the game and I got even more into it. Since then I want to think I got really good at it and have made several ships on the workshop. In all I appreciate what the devs have done for the genre when games like UAD or Rule the Waves are complicated for some to learn. As a whole this really gets that itch of wanting to build ships from the very ground up and how ever you want to build them. Be it historical, historically inspired, or even straight up just new and wild designs no sane human would come up with. But it's all worth it really once you learn how blocks work, buoyancy and so much more. Great work and keep up the updates as this game really has the potential to be even better than it already is
