Very fun gameplay for anyone who likes analysing items and figuring out if an item is valuable or not, the story is also excellent and had me play through it three times. That being said, the game has a few bugs and it does not seem like the developer is fixing them nor responding to questions on Steam. The developer is Korean, which isnt neccesarily an issue, but the English translation can be a bit scuffy. Definently worth a buy on sale and will net you 5 to 10 hours of fun "Papers please" style gameplay!

I've just finished my third or fourth playthrough of this game across several years. I have some thoughts I'd like to share. The game is basically very good. I think the "Papers, Please" format is applied really well, the pawn shop idea is creative and super fun. No complaints at all about the game in concept. It's too short! I think it would be made much better by lengthening the days to have about double (or even more!@ the customers. More valuable items can come in less to balance it out, since necessarily more customers means buying and selling more items. If most items are lower valued, that's fine! My time spent on this game is only just over 60 hours for those playthroughs. The story is told functionally (translation issues aside) across the 40 day duration, but by the end, the actual core gameplay loop is just squeezed in, there's not enough time to really enjoy it. Speaking of. I think the customer system is bad as it is. I think the ratio of weird customer to normal customer is skewed heavily in favor of the weird ones- customers that absolutely downright refuse correct appraisals (Fixies, people trying to scam you, etc) are incredibly common, as are those that will refuse to sell if you point out too many positive qualities because they don't want good money. We are functionally punished for playing the game correctly. For the more plot-servicing customers that do this (the little kid with the bangs that wants you to ignore his signature when buying his stuff), I think this is an interesting thing, but for half of all NPCs to do it, I think it sucks. I also think, in a similar vein, that hiding negative cards shouldn't get people to distrust the store. Clearly I'm not scamming them. The kid with the bangs, the card I'm hiding from him makes the item *less* valuable. Why, then, am I accused of an Avarice Crime for doing it, just because I want to purchase the item with an accurate appraisal? I'm losing money on the deal. It doesn't make much sense. More nitpicks-- this is a positive review, I promise :)-- I think the game explains a lot of things very poorly, and in nuanced situations, is basically non-functional. I'm specifically thinking of brand erasure, the game doesn't give good intel on what to do if, say, a necklace is missing a chain, or is an item not usually made by a given brand. And when these items pop up, if it's one of those weird customers, it becomes impossible to accurately appraise these items. I also dislike that if you appraise an item, but you realize you added a card incorrectly, you can't undo that card, even if you're still in the appraisal process. If I describe an item as rare, and then realize it's a knock-off from the brand (and thus is not rare), I can't remove that card, I'm just locked in to being wrong, even though I'm still at the point where I'm determining these things. Finally. FUCK renters, man. They take your stuff and just throw that shit around like a football. I'm handing these people 5000 Vana watches and they return them at 1500 Vana value. Not allowing rentals will harm store reputation, and you will still get wasted customers who will ask to rent items. I think improvements should be made to this system- maybe make it an opt in that gives a reputation buff, or loss, at the start of each week? And if you opt out, they don't show up. Obviously, the devs probably won't be fixing up the various bugs and weird situations with this game. It's not a new title anymore, I'm sure they're working on other things. But I do love this game, and it would be nice if it was better in its areas of deficiency. Overall, I do recommend it, as it scratches an itch I have not actually seen in any other game. If your dream job is operating a pawn shop, this is about as good as it gets.

I would recommend getting this game on sale. Very similar to Paper's Please mechanics wise, story is nothing special (typical dystopian future). It would be good to have an endless mode and ease of keyboard shortcuts, with the amount of things to check it gets clunky after a while. Clearer explanations on what reach categorization for an item would be appreciated as well.

So there is some things to consider with my recommendation, as many of the things the game does right has a counter negative to "balance" it out. The basic game play loop is running a pawn store, where you buy things to sell them at a profit. If you make too much money though, negative events can occur that feels unfair. The game give you the option of running a slightly unfair pawn shop, where you have the option to hide some of the history and factors of an item. You can then add those factors to sell them at a premium, but them people will hate you. The game has a lot of different endings, but many of them are cryptic to work towards. The world setting is interesting, but the story is generally forgettable. Music and graphics work well for the game itself, and no complaints on that front. I would say this game needs two play modes, story and endless mode. I believe many players just want to enjoy buying and selling things without having to deal with the morality tale going on in the background.

Fun gameplay and interesting story... but it's a shame the game doesn't let you enjoy the gameplay at its fullest. I'm genuinely shocked there's no "sandbox mode" where you can just do the appraising, buying, and selling.
