I love this game so much! I have 60 hours in the Beta and Demo. Systems are deep and rewarding, sound design is satisfying and you always just wanna play one more round. By far my favorite tower defense game. The roguelike elements fit this so well. Thank you for making this game! EDIT: Came back to say, I regret nothing. Still awesome and I am still learning. To all those people that got beyond wave 40. Touch some grass! Road Map looks good! Looking forward to new content and new variables. To everyone that says this game is stale and repetetive. Well it only is If you never try new strats and tactics and dont really understand how deep the systems are for this game.

Deeply impressed. I've played around 12-15 tower defense games and this one is by far the best no question. The key it seems to bring out is a far greater amount of flexibility, which in turn demands far more strategic thinking and planning. The thing I hate about most tower defense games, is they often have such set positions, short paths and some such that it simply becomes a puzzle solving game as to which tower to put in that spot, vs the other few choices given the money and situation and route, instead of giving you several creative paths to get there. Excellent balance of base building flow vs. demand for investment in defense. Probably the most complex I have seen; and that keeps you engaged every round. The meta portion of this game is quite extensive, giving a lot of options on how to emphasize future runs. The variability in the maps and in how you will REGULARLY customize your towers is a tremendous game aspect and deeply affects replayability. This is no simplistic "upgrade to level 2" type of game or analysis you can benefit from by examining your runs. I have had tons of fun playing and that surprises me for a tower game, as turn-based strategy is my most common genre.

This is not the best tower defense game you will ever play. However, it is doing some things that make it worth considering. There are things I like about this game and some things I really do not like. Weigh them for yourself and make your own judgment call. Meta Progress A lot of people like this feature - but 90% of the meta progression in this game is straight power creep or options that you really need if you want to build a successful run. I really dislike games that gate your ability to beat the game behind meta progression and this game commits that sin in pretty egregious ways. You would do well to beat the first boss in this game without meta progression, much less see the game through all the waves. For me, that is a really frustrating experience and for others, it is a feature. Judge for yourself. Tower Diversity There are only 8 towers, which is fine. Their upgrade options by leveling are pretty generic. The game turns itself into a roguelike through the "Banner" system and "Relic" system that supports it. The relic system is what you would expect from any roguelike and the system is just average. Not terrible, but not exceptional either. The banners are where the game is supposed to really open up and there are some interesting ideas here. Certain towers can get upgrades/synergies if you get the correct banner combinations together encouraging you to experiment with towers that work together. This is probably the only space in the game that encourages replayability and while the system is interesting, it was not compelling enough to carry the whole game for me. Replayability The game has no variation whatsoever in the enemy compositions. The map will expand and change in a procedurally generated fashion, but that doesn't change too much about how you are going to attack the game. You know you have to meet a certain DPS gate for each wave, and that DPS gate isn't going to change because the units pushing you never change from run to run. All replayability is pushed on the shoulders of the banner and relic system - and while those systems are fine or even good, they can't carry the entire game. Conclusion So - if you've read this far it seems pretty strange that I am still recommending this game. This is not the best tower defense game ever built, but it doesn't have to be. For the price point, the game is fair and it is appealing to people that have different tastes than me. That is fine and I think it is a really high quality mobile game sitting on PC and serving a group that enjoys these kind of systems. I'll probably come back and pick at this one every now and then, but it definitely is a "meh" for my personal tastes.

worth it for the 15$ sale price but it does get boring once you have unlocked stuff, theres no ability to be creative and try out new strategies because you will just lose. theres like 1 way to do well and thats it, you will find yourself doing the same exact thing over and over expecting different results. (definition of insanity). tower upgrades are far too expensive and you will find yourself just building new towers until those are too expensive too. the meta progression is quite boring and so are a bunch of the towers. theres no uniqueness to this game except the resource management which it its current state i dont know if it helps the game much.

I am VERY on the fence whether to give this a thumbs up or down. It might just be my personal affinity to games like this - or rather, the lack thereof. The game demands efficient and intelligent play with little to no room for experimentation and punishes insufficient planning and oversights, while at the same time relying heavily on luck with banner/relic drops and map exploration. You will never see any crazy damage numbers or build a lot of towers, as upgrades are rare/expensive and building towers of the same type is discouraged by making it cripplingly expensive, while simultaneously encouraged by making some flatly better than others. I guess it boils down to the game having a very specific idea of how to play it in mind, and it punishes any attempt to break out or get ahead of the curve. For some reason, the economic part of the game is BY FAR the most complex with resource/worker management, which is not what you would expect from this kind of game and I'm not sure I'm a big fan of it. I wish I could build more towers, have a little spectacle on my screen, see a bit of "number go up" and not spend 5min managing worker allocation and split spending back into my economy or into defenses just to pry an extra 10% damage for a single tower from the hands of this stingy game! Every game feels samey, I try different things but I lose around wave 20 every time, even after dozens of meta unlocks. I dunno, maybe it's just not for me. I'll try some more and if it doesn't get better I'll delete this review and this game. Until then, maybe someone here has some tips or ideas?
