Great story!! This game was recommended to me by a friend and I was I won't like this type of games but I was hugely wrong. I loved every part of it. The art, The puzzles, everything was great even it looked very simple and small. Enjoyed every minute I spent. Respect for devs. Glad I tried it.
i bought this game on release after playing through the prologue, and wasn't able to fully get into it............. fast forward 4 years, i decided to give it another shot, now from the perspective of a game dev (specifically a programmer...). this game was SO impactful for me... being able to see a dream grow, getting ready to share it with others, and... well, it's pretty accurate, if a little dramatized. i think the extremes in this story help it, though. as for the actual gameplay, the programming puzzles are fairly simple at first, and a lot of them through the game continue to be at that same level. that being said, there's the occasional harder puzzle that does require some deeper thought to be able to solve it. still, i would say that it's not TOO difficult, at least from the perspective of someone who does know C#. i think someone new to coding would be able to figure it out if they were willing to try a bunch of different solutions, though. overall, One Dreamer is an amazing game with unique gameplay and fun mechanics. seeing the world change around you as you edit it is such a cool experience, and the way the story gets unveiled is engaging and interesting. definitely a must play for any game dev, aspiring or otherwise, and a good play for anyone curious about the process.
I played the prologue when I was still an aspiring computer science student with dreams of developing my own games: not because I have great ideas for fun games, but because I wanted to reach the hearts of others over this special medium of gaming, and bring experiences that one can't otherwise get anywhere else. Life has happened in the years since. Those aspirations drifted farther and farther from my day to day life, but at least for now I got to play the full version of this game. I honestly related to too many things about Frank and the game he's making, from trying to stuff obscure references into the game to the bad code contending to be Spaghetti Bolognese. Seeing characters like Frank reminds me that the dream is still alive, and that I'm not the only one with that dream. This one's to all the One Dreamers out there, dream on-
As I programmer I really liked this game (although the programming is very simplified I believe it was a good choice to encourage non-programmers and wanna-be programmers to try it out). The story was very good and I was really immersed in it - it's not every day I find such a moving tale. I definitely recommend.
