I understand how off this game can feel coming off of DX, but I find it to be a bit underrated. This feels almost like an Arrange/Black Label version of DX. It's a very strange iteration of Pac-Man, but that is one of its biggest strengths. It takes the formula and completely turns it on its head and delivers something new and pretty fun. The soundtrack is also filled with bangers. Score Attack is the main mode. The gameplay is quite fun. Instead of ghosts immediately killing you, they will become angry upon you bouncing against them. Ghost trains form from passing by the sleeping ghosts, and once you eat a Power Pellet, you have to eat the leader ghost for each train. A lot of the strategy comes from routing and figuring out which mazes to complete versus which ones to skip. Learning how the ghost AI works and how to manipulate it is also important and adds to the fun. Collecting extra lives is also invaluable due to the major score bonus at the end. Downsides: 1. Adventure Mode is just not good. It's very much a "play a chunk of a level while racing against the clock" experience, and the bosses are a HUGE missed opportunity (CE 2 Plus delivered true boss fights, but that is sadly Switch exclusive). 2. This version lacks the extra music tracks and the co-op mode from the Switch version. 3. The scoring system is a lot more rigid and less intuitive than the one in CE DX. It can feel really mystifying when you play really well but still don't manage to even get an S rank. It's very trial and error heavy. I highly recommend this game to any Pac-Man fan who wants something that shakes up the formula, and I really hope one day Namco will consider making another entry in this series that experiments more with different styles of gameplay.

I've said in my review for PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ that many parts of the game make it really fun and unique, like the ghost trains, the satisfaction of eating a LOT of ghosts in sequence, and etc. and I feel like this game is just REALLY FUN, probably on par with CE/CE DX+, as now the ghost trains are a much more central feature, there's special animations for eating in big sequences, and it also has many things CE/CE DX+ don't have, like boss fights and the runaway fruits.
