Parquet Recommended Length: Short (5-10 Hours) Number of Routes: 1 Choices: No* Failure Possible: No Character Rating: Pretty Good Story Progression: Good Music Rating: Good Achievement Difficulty: 1 Additional Thoughts: Overall pretty good. Even though the main story arc felt a bit rushed near the end, but it felt mostly complete and overall pretty good up until that point. The after story arc felt kinda too short on the other hand and has the only choice of this VN.

Parquet, a visual novel with a touch of romance gently sprinkled amongst the game. I think it set out to tell the story it wanted to tell, and I was satisfied with the end. I only had a bit of problem at the beginning, because it felt quite... dry. This is the second Yuzusoft game I've played, the other one being Riddle Joker. I much prefer Riddle Joker, but the point of Parquet was less a romance and more a story, and I was moved by the story. I really like how everything slowly tied up in a nice ribbon, and I was content had it ended with the epilogue. But I was also happy with the "after" segment the game gave. To be honest though, I think there could be potential for a sequel, seeing as the whole ending isn't fully expanded on, but that's just my take. If you're going in for a romance novel, I'd advise against getting this game, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Recommended. Well maybe slightly less than 7/10 or something. It's a nice and warm all-age story. Low choice and around 10 hours long. It has that classic "Yuzusoft" feeling to it—very good atmosphere and soundtrack, extremely polished, diabete-inducing, light-hearted drama, a specific brand of comedy, and still feeling like a good old route-based moege (despite having no route system and no real romance whatsoever). The story is very predictable, although that really isn't a problem. Oh and both heroines are voiced by the same person. Voice actors are seriously amazing. If you're training your Japanese reading, this is fine material: Low difficulty, convenient language switch functionality and fairly modern language usage. The premise and focus of the story is interesting, and perhaps a bit deeper than their average titles. I also like the message the story tries to convey. The antagonist-building is hilariously bad, as expected. The overarching story and the conclusion felt a bit lacking to me though. That after-story part is particularly awkward. Like, if the story ended just before the after-story then it would have been more satisfying; and if the after-story were developed more then it would also have been fine; but the current after-story as it stands sits in an awkward compromise between these two and is somewhat distracting.

Yuzusoft never fails to deliver. As an all-ages game, I had way more fun than I thought I would. Totally loved this game! Plus, both heroines played by Nao Toyama!

Yuzosoft titles have always been a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, so how does Parquet compare? Starting with the positives, all the hallmarks of a Yuzusoft title are on full display. The visuals are spectacular, the overall experience is incredibly well polished, and the OST is both pleasant & well produced. It's not a surprise at this point, but it's great to see their presentation continue to be among the best of the best. The lead characters are also some of the best in a Yuzusoft title, and the premise of the story is interesting, & ultimately fulfilling with some reasonable highs throughout. However, its shorter nature & a few incredibly predictable twists make for an narrative that feels a little bit forgettable at times, though the characters are strong enough to carry the experience. Overall, it's a title that does more right than wrong, ticking all the boxes you'd expect from a Yuzusoft title, while sadly coming up a bit short narratively compared to their longer reads. Still a worthwhile read, but far from a great one.
