After Free Week being absolutely sceptical about the game and only seeing it only from perspective of community comments, my partner screen and my own personal preferences I do recommend the game BUT for specific audience. Pax Dei very small team created a beautifuly crafted world by only 5 people and went through a rough start with unfortunate subscirption story. Worry not. You CAN maintain your one plot purely by playing the game and everything you need can easily fit there. Local player vast structres also offer necessary help depending on your location with benches access as well as points of interest on the map. Pax Dei is game all about slow pace, gathering resources, patience and consistent work on your chosen crafts as well as building your dream home, be it alone or with friends/clan. Game target audience and goal is purely social but that doesn't mean one cannot enjoy it alone as well and make friends on a go in local chat communities as those are mostly friendly as well. There is no rush, no quests, minimal guidance so you choose your own way to spend time. I do agree however that it needs ingame lore presented, not just discord to better establish new player in the world by simple presentation of situation, motives and threat. All in time. Pax Dei is clearly not a game for action and fast dopamine users who need questing and orders to guide their playing needs for hours on end. Its a game you want to grab purely to unwind, relax and just progress your own goals in a world offered fully at your pace. Game is obviously still in its early stage and it will require better new player experience and introduction beyond just few screens of text. Aside from that world of Pax Dei is indeed very beautiful but in time will need a bit more life added to it, via lore exploration, enemies patrols and maybe some dynamic events to put more sense into our existance vs the local Inquisition and monster factions to keep the social and local effort to keep the land trurly ours and safe. Combat of Pax Dei is basic. There is no flashy animations, no big impact, just clean execution with simple swings. Some might hate it, some might like it. Personally I do not mind it as I come from era of very old MMO's however feeling more impact on hits would be a good addition. Enemy AI is both good and bad as they are not your typical tiered weaklings but mostly well equipped and high damage dealing soldiers, diverised into tanks, healers and archers. The only critisism I have about enemy AI at the current stage of the game is that Tanks do not block with their shield and Archers do not go around objects we hide behind to continue engagment as we can easily just put the tree between each other and remain safe, as Archer will be unloading arrows on its poor trunk. Crafting and Gathering in Pax Dei is a grindy process, a main point of the game so do not engage unless you are ready to commit time to understand recipes, which will take you from simple craft to multi tiered processes and countless benches as you go. If one played Skyrim the one will understand how leveling those work in here with exception that Skyrim has is very easy. Here you will be able to level multiple various crafts going from tailoring to breweing wine either giving you satisfaction with each level or driving you crazy if deciding on picking too many. Current issue with crafting in Pax Dei leveling itself. Players spend hours crafting simple low level products in hunderds of numbers just to improve their crafts without means of dismantling the end products which end up scattered on a ground like uwanted moldy bread threw for mercy of the local pigeons. However this one not even pigeons would touch. I do understand however that dismantling process is in works as well as adding more impact on leveling crafts by using higher tier recipes which I will be glad to see. Travelling in Pax Dei is both blessing and curse. Lands are very eye catching with lighting so accurate one sometimes stops to look, however game does not offer any other transportation method other than teleportation to region stones with a payment for gold every 1h. There are no carragies, no mounts, no other medieval uber services making your exploration around the land faster. You will walk and you will like it because there is no other way. Personally I would love see horses and donkeys in future, along with carriages since world of Pax offers incredible road system connecting all the regions together through forests and mountains but that would have to go along with improved enemy patrol system to create sense of journey and danger as well as creating new system of catching, taming and raising horses and donkeys. Pax Dei building system is their biggest goat right now. It might be the best building experience I personally had so far after games like Dune or Once Human. Connecting various wall styles blends very well and medieval style of building is incredibly pleasing, creating cozy feeling of your very first home. Freedom is offered easily in the way walls have no problems mixing and snatching to each other and collision is very minimal making the whole process very satysfaying and little problematic. More styles and furnitures are unlocked with raising your craft as well as discovering various ingridients in the world. Home in Pax Dei offers both coziness and utility BUT let's talk about storage and army of baskets. This is something that will need to change in future. Currently storing units cannot be moved if they contain items inside nor they can be moved freely. Its a process of mindful placing, moving materials and re-doing a structure if one wants to change its place. Certain items stacks will have to increase as well as some of them stack up to 50, some 20. Consistency is a key and our future basket peace. This is the only critisicm I have after Free Week about building. With what we have offered now, game is 100% NOT for adrenaline seekers or people who understand MMO by means of lands filled with big groups of fantasy enemes and raising your levels to double numbers in hours by slashing and filling screen with colorful animations. There are no levels, just you in your breezy pyjama tunic, your little tools and big world offering you a place to stay and call home one day. Its not perfect, its not catchy, nor dynamic, yet. Its very little in fact but I am willing to bet the offered 17,99€ which is 3 packs of cigarettes and visit the game when I seek just chill and basic flower picking while local deers yell at me while I deforest local lands to build my home and choose my crafts. I am willing to wait for devs to apply the feedback received and slowly shape the game into something we probably all hope for. Score: General: 6/10 🚬 Definetly better and healthier than those 3 packs of cigarettes but needs patience to reach full potential. Currently great for relaxing after action hardcore packed games. Music and Bird Chirping: 🎶 10/10 Crafting/Building:🔨 8/10 Combat/Enemy AI: 🗡️ 5/10 Visuals:⛰️ 9/10 New Player Experience: 🏁 4/10 After Free Try I did buy the game. Cheers.

Ok so is Pax Dei fun? Well it depends on the type of player you are.. if you enjoy a extremely grindy game that takes hundreds of hours to complete levels of crafting solo then you will love this game. You also have to level everything from weapons to each piece of armor you wear. The house building in the game is some of the best I have seen . The exploration in the game is amazing and there is no hand holding' you have to figure out where to find plants and what mobs drop certain items you need to craft with. This game is a crafter - gathers dream. Your attack skills in the game are based on the type of weapons your using and each weapon gets 3 unique skills . Your armors get 4 utility skills based on the type of armor you wearing. The housing in the game allows you one free Grace Plot that cost 400 grace every 30 days and does not require money monthly,.. its easy to get 400 grace. Everyday you login without premium you still get 10 grace per day and you can also farm humans for gold and convert gold to grace, for example... for 90 gold you get 30 grace. that takes about 1 hour to make depending on your gear. The combat in the game is simple yet works and can be improved. The enemies in the game are not the type you can one hit and they use defensive skills on there selves and there ally's. The game does have issues like trees growing in your base that they have yet to fix and items need to stack higher. I feel the game is well worth the $30 if you enjoy games that take time and patience to accomplish what you craft.

One of the reasons I’m supporting this MMO is because it’s being built by a Western dev team that is actually transparent, communicates clearly, and genuinely listens to its players. That alone is rare in the MMO space right now. From the early stages to the full release, the developers have consistently explained their decisions, outlined timelines, and invited player input on future features. They’ve even opened up certain upcoming systems to community voting — something you almost never see. It shows they’re committed to guiding the game with a clear vision while still involving the player base in the process. Positives Transparent, honest communication The devs openly discuss what they’re working on, what’s changing, and why. This builds trust — and it’s one of the main reasons players like myself want to support them. Community involvement in decision-making They let players vote on specific new features and systems. This creates a sense of investment and long-term ownership from the community. Strong foundation for a long-lasting MMO The core systems — building, crafting, progression, grouping, PvP and world structure — show solid vision and room to grow. Western MMO with Western sensibilities No predatory monetisation, no pay-to-win, no time-gated nonsense. Instead, you can work for what you want through gameplay, not credit cards. Devs who stick to their vision They listen, but they don’t panic and change direction every time someone complains. This is exactly how long-lasting MMOs stay coherent instead of becoming disconnected feature-bloat. Negatives (and how they can be fixed if players give them time) Some systems are still light or early-stage Areas like solo content, late-game loops or quality-of-life features could use more depth. How devs can fix it: They are already gathering player feedback and conducting votes on future features. If players remain constructive instead of writing the game off, the devs have shown they will refine and expand those systems. Game can feel grindy to some players Levelling and progression actually require effort — which some love, and some don’t. Solution: The devs are actively tuning XP curves, adding more ways to progress, and expanding PvE and gathering options. More feedback means better balancing. Not all promised features are fully realised yet This is normal for any MMO at 1.0 — but some players expect a complete, end-to-end experience on day one. Solution: Their transparency helps here. They openly publish roadmaps and timelines, and they’ve honoured the majority of their early promises. Giving them space and time will likely result in the remaining systems being finished properly rather than rushed. Solo players may feel underpowered MMOs are naturally group-centric, but solo players still need meaningful options. Solution: The dev team has already acknowledged this and is planning adjustments — more solo dungeons, crafting balance improvements, more accessible content, and clearer progression pathways. Overall This MMO has launched with a strong foundation, a dev team that actually communicates, and a community that’s starting to shape the world alongside them. Is it perfect? No MMO is at 1.0. But the difference here is the direction, the transparency, and the willingness to evolve with meaningful player input. If players give the game — and the developers — a fair chance, it has the potential to grow into something genuinely special. Supporting Western MMO devs who aren’t afraid to be open, honest, and community-driven is how we finally get MMOs with long-term vision again.

Every MMO provides an illusion of depth and immersion, of possibilities and dreams. This one keeps the illusion going longer than most before you hit the technical limitaitons. The game has truly wondrous landscapes to explore and build on. It has active communities that make you feel like part of a town or village of real people. It has adventure, crafting, and gathering; and at least a modicum of reason to explore the unknown and dangerous. Combat is engaging, it has a novel mechanic where equipment provides the character with abilities that define their gameplay. PvP is probably the most limited of any open sandbox mmo; and seems to only be a risk when trying to obtain the highest endgame crafting materials. I've greatly enjoyed my time with the game so far, but I'm not a fanboy. The game does have it's flaws and shortcomings. If these would affect your full enjoyment of the game here are some of those I've observed: [*]Buildings are the only way to affect the world with any lasting impact, but they require a small monthly subscription to maintain. My point being trees quickly pop back into existence after being chopped down, mining resources, etc. You cannot change the landscape, only what is built upon it. [*]Grass, rocks, trees, flora, etc. will penetrate your floor even if you build over it. I.e. building a house where a tree would stand means that you will forever have a tree clipping through your house. [*]There is very little simulation or realism in the world. Spooked animals will return to their original spot (anchored), materials will always be found in the same spots, there is no weather or seasons, biomes are static, and crafting is relatively simplified and only made more complex as a factor of higher level difficulty. [*]There doesn't appear to be much variance in how the terrain is shaped/designed, I could be wrong but at least in my region (1 of 5 maps) every part of the world has the same level of verticality in it's design; every part of the landscape has exaggerated elevation changes, towering mountains and deep valleys very reminiscent of Norway. You will find no stretches of sand dune deserts, no flat prairie plains; everything is is a hill or a towering mountain, with very few flat areas. [*]For a game whose core design was based off of the Eve Online model of highsec, lowsec, nullsec, there is surprisingly very little of that within the game. What mechanics have survived its journey through development and early access fall more in line with something like Elder Scrolls Online.
