Early Impressions – Second Account (Mixed Bag, Straight Up) I’m running a second account now and getting a cleaner look at the game from a fresh angle. Not brand new, not fully established either. Right in that middle ground where the cracks start to show. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room… ganking. I had a long conversation with a veteran about wars and sieging, and the reality is pretty simple. It’s not worth it most of the time. There’s a real cost barrier around 1000 gold just to get things rolling, and beyond that, the defender controls the timing. They pick when it happens. They pick when they show up. No surprise, no pressure, no real opportunity to outplay through strategy unless both sides agree to play along. So what happens? High-end PvP players, the ones who should be driving meaningful conflict, end up sitting outside towns or along routes, picking off newer players or non-combatants. Not because they’re all griefers, but because the system gives them nowhere better to go. That’s the problem. You’ve got a hardcore PvP game where the best PvP isn’t being incentivized properly. So it spills downward. And yeah, that sucks for new players. But it also sucks for the PvPers. Farming soft targets gets old fast. There’s no real pride in it, no real stakes. If wars and sieges actually mattered, if they were accessible, dynamic, and worth fighting over, you’d see a shift. Not perfect, but better. Ganking would still exist, it’s part of the sandbox, but it wouldn’t dominate the experience like it does now. Balance and Friction There are still some obvious imbalances. Some systems feel half-finished or poorly tuned. Progression can feel inconsistent. Certain builds or mechanics clearly outperform others with very little tradeoff. You can feel when something hasn’t been fully thought through. And some design choices… they just fight the player instead of challenging them. There’s a difference. So Why Keep Playing? Because when this game works… it really works. No other game gives you this level of tension. Travel matters. Risk matters. Losing something actually means something. When you win a fight, you earned it. When you escape with your gear, your heart’s pounding. The world feels dangerous in a way most MMOs are too afraid to commit to. And that’s the hook. Bottom Line Right now, the game feels like it’s missing its top layer of meaningful conflict. The systems for war and siege should be the backbone of PvP, but instead they’re gated, predictable, and often avoided. That leaves a vacuum, and ganking fills it. Fix that, and a lot of the “toxicity” people complain about probably drops naturally. Don’t fix it, and you’ll keep bleeding new players while your veterans get bored or cynical. Still playing. Still invested. But it’s one of those games where you can clearly see how good it could be… and that’s both the best and worst part.

Not for the feint of heart. Half the people that leave a bad review still play the game. Community has a loud vocal minority that for some reason feel a great sense of entitlement. Pros -content, an immersive experience of exploration and discovery -intriguing systems and class development -battle complexity from small to large scale and specialties in between Cons -player driven economy (can be hard if you "cant live without" somethings) -does not respect your time -can be very toxic, every country and every culture, playing a "hyper competitive" game, leads to some crazy convos

this game is cruel. very little is explained, the world is lawless and full of danger. but it cant help but feel alive in a way that other modern MMOs dont. those games have become theme parks. fun, but sanitized, toothless experiences. mortal is opposite in every way. you are not expected to experience everything. you are not expected to be able to thrive on your own. you are dropped naked and alone in a world that wants you dead. any joy to be found is carved through sweat and toil out of granum and steel. and because of these, the light moments are so much brighter. taming an animal you've had your eye on for the first time. working your way up to crafting with good materials. vibing in the town square while a mage sets off magic fireworks. and because of that, the darker moments are highlighted too. rest in peace henrique, my first wisent companion, only true casualty of the first time i was ganked. there is something special buried in this game's bones, and if you have the patience, time, and fortitude to dig it out, you will find an experience that feels unique in a time where the norm seems to be boiling any sense of self out of every game on the market

There is no game like this. No game that gives you the freedom. No game that has such great implied lore. No game that lets you ♥♥♥♥ talk people in VOIP after you put them in mercy mode. You will not see another game like this in your lifetime.
