fro $20 it was a very fun game, the "story" is a bit short IMO but I can't complain as when i first played it there was none. Good game and the difficulty is well balanced, the parkour is also really fun

A real treat of a game no doubt. You have a mix of dungeon running through randomly generated dungeons with all kinds of loot to find on the way and traps to avoid or fall to. The best part is the asynchronous multiplayer which you will see a lot of other players ghosts and it all feels natural. You see where others fail and you see where most players take the same route but then you will notice some other interesting ways to get around something. You unlocks relics at the end of each run and this allows you to progress the "story" but there is also different whips to unlocks and perks and skills to obtain. There is a lot of great dungeon running and exploring to have in Phantom Abyss and the lobbies will only grow as more players play down the line because it adds their runs to the system and you get to follow more and more ghosts.

ABYSS MODE IS BROKEN You can and will encounter Abyss Temples that are literally impossible, which is frustrating after spending 20 minutes going through having a really great run to hit a door that doesn't have an open trigger. I think the upgrade system could have used a bit of a rework but I mostly just bypassed the work by purchasing harder challenges and key transferring as soon as I could. Then just cranked up the difficulty to only get Epic keys and transferred down, completely nullifying the need for uncommon and lower keys since you can turn 1 Epic into 2 Rare, into 4 Uncommon into 8 Common, trivialising the need for keys The Adventure mode side is mostly fine, there are some temples which have forced modifiers that are really annoying (take a Key/Light and instantly die if you take damage, generates floors with almost all dark rooms filled with hard to see traps) but I enjoyed most of it so far If you don't want the difficulty though you can choose (mostly) what modifiers you want to put up with which I thought was a really nice design choice I'm sure if I keep throwing myself at Abyss mode I'll eventually reach a temple I can actually clear but so far out of 5 Abyss temples they've all been impossible to complete

PLEASE NOTE - THIS GAME IS ABANDONED. Regardless of that, though, I hope my playtime speaks for itself. Sure, the obstacles and such can get pretty repetitive at times. Sure, there are times where a run HAS to be abandoned because something spawned wrong and created a locked room that couldn't be passed. Sure, all you can really do once getting every upgrade and every whip is just.. keep playing Abyss mode. BUT, to me, this game is legitimately fun. This is probably one of the only games I've ever played that keeps me on the edge of my seat and excited for the challenge. It's more of a single-player experience than anything nowadays, but still give it a try.
