This game is 95% fun. The last temple is complete BS and damn near impossible to get through without help from blessings. I've also been at the end of two very difficult temples and the game has spawned me inside of a wall after falling, forcing a temple restart. This also happened to me on this final temple. I had it beat and out of nowhere my performance tanked, FPS dropped to 8 and I inevitably died shortly after. It's sad to me that there are still bugs in this game after all of the time it spent in early access. I can only hope that the dev is aware of these issues and is doing something about it post 1.0 update. Outside of the BS final temple that will no doubt have you wanting to put your PC through the washer, and the somewhat rare (but always conveniently timed) performance issues, this game is a gem.

Wanted to leave a review to offset all the bad reviews. Game is perfectly playable. Phantoms that you see in game are just prior records of attempts. Whether they've now made those offline and just part of the game or if WIBY or DD has left a server up for those of us who still play on occasion...there is no (and never was) any true multiplayer aspect. Phantoms are there for you to see how others failed and to help you avoid the same mistakes. For what it's worth, in late 2024, the game is still enjoyable and plays just fine.

the servers got shut down and the game is still for sale. SCAM AT THIS POINT. (the game didn't even come out a year a go but was in early access for many years wtf ). well although they let the game sit serverless for about a month after its release it is up and running again.

I've been with this game since the very early access days. It's changed a whole lot over time, mostly for the better but somewhat for the worse. In the state that the game is in now I would definitely say it's worth its pricetag, the "story" is alright and the graphics are pretty great but the gameplay is where it shines. While its not perfect, the base aspects of the game are good enough for the rest of the game to stand on it. There are multiple ways to play and a decent progression system which is good to progress through. The replay value is the best aspect since there are many different modifiers, areas and tools you can use. Add to that the fact that many temples are procedure generated, and you have almost endless replay value. As for the multiplayer aspects, i cannot speak for it now as i only used it during early access, but the ability to follow your friends on their own runs after they have died is the best part of the multiplayer. Due to the rather lacking playerbase, at least when i played, there werent many people randomly in temples for me to see. Overall i think this is a good game even without the multiplayer gimmicks and even if you only play through the "story mode" you'll still have gotten your moneys worth.

The core gameplay is great but 1.0 sucks. Random modifiers can fuck you over and the user interface just keeps getting more convoluted. Sad to see a great title broken for no reason, hope devs fix it soon
