TL/DR: good game music, got lost, blah blah. The store page says Shadow Man is a 3rd-person action-adventure game, but let me clear this up. That ♥♥♥♥ isn't the full truth! Shadow Man is an action-adventure and a listening to what Vincent Van Goh hears at 3AM simulator. Originally released on Nintendo 64, it was rushed out to meet a deadline, leaving about 30% of the original game cut in order to get this bad boy to console for its MASSIVE and WAITING fanbase who were so enthusiastic they immediately forgot to buy it, leaving Shadowman to promptly fly under everyone's radar and sell (relatively) poorly. Then fast forward 22 years, and in come our saviors! Night Dive Studios, who remastered the original release, updated the fidelity and frame rate, gave the gameplay and controls a modern polish while staying true to the source material, and, you know, adding bonus areas and RESTORING THE 30% OF THE GAME THAT WENT UNRELEASED, so as you can imagine! People were pleased! So pleased in fact that it probably flew under your radar again for the same reasons! Buy it, it's good. Personally: I've played a lot of N64 games in my lifetime, some I remember and some I don't, but I can say if I had played this back on N64 when it released, it would have been in my top 5, maybe even top 3. Even with 30% missing, I do not know how they packed so much into one N64 game, but let's get to how the game feels. Feels to play: This is a remaster of an old game, and for the most part, it still feels like an old game, and that's good. The game controls and plays like an old Tomb Raider game (exactly like Tomb Raider II) with slow platforming, and jumping that's a full marriage commitment, combat that leaves you frustrated at best, and a "Piper Peri post couch" simulator at its worst. There's also backtracking, a lot of backtracking for powerups (Metroidvania style), or you can, you know, hang around to see how old areas expand. Areas expand so much that you may find yourself forgetting which neighborhood you started in, because you surely aren't on that side of Kansas anymore. Did I walk into Baltimore? Fu- But what will keep you here is: - The voice acting. Redd Pepper makes the dialogue come to life with the way he inflects some of these dark, poetic lines, and seconds after this insightfully dark dialogue, he becomes the guy in class who just learned what cursing was. The trailer doesn't do the cast and performances much justice. - The environments feel claustrophobic, dirty, insane, psychotic, berserk, and loud, and this is a GOOD thing, but I'll explain why. -The Horror, play this ♥♥♥♥ and then find a more unsettling soundtrack, I dare you. The game isn't even scary fr fr bro, I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself to the musical embodiment of ma-dukes playing with pots, pans, and slapping her wet steaks together in the kitchen. At the same time, the dog runs around ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the house up by tripping on anything it can muster, and scaring the kids into early carpentry careers [now with a sprinkle of piano]. I was there to hear all of it, simultaneously. Yeah, really good game. Feels good to progress. I recommend playing it on hard first, because the difficulty makes every fight feel just serious enough to actually have you on edge, and that, plus the music, is a killer recipe.

Wow what a remaster! As someone who loved the game since playing it back on Dreamcast , (see my review on the original PC version) this is everything anyone who loved the original game could want and more. Taking an already epic adventure and adding to it with three extra maps, new enemies, and other cool bonus stuff make it a must fan of the original Shadow Man game. Graphics are more colorful and richer, control is solid and it's rewarding to find all the secrets, dark souls, and new stuff, including new enemies and 2 new bosses in addition to all your old favorites. Also made some of the scariest levels even scarier with graphic additions to Jack the Rippers lair and the Mordant Street NY map. If you remember them well from the original PC and DC versions...well let's just say they gotten even more disturbing. Unused music id also added along with the original toons intact. (Playrooms music....*shiver*) If you're really up for a hard challenge, there are added difficulty levels that make an already challenging adventure way harder, for the hardcore. To the developers and publishers : Thank you for this. It's perfection for any Shadow Man fan. P.S. How about a remaster of the second one?

THIS IS ONE OF THE COOLEST GAMES OF ALL TIME! I think it is a really cool game with cool world and settings and fun gameplay. It has fun levels, cool weapons and cool enemy and envirnoment designs. And it has a cool variety of different weapons that you will unlock throughout playing through the game, and you starting with the Shadow Gun pistol a cool gun which I used always throughout my playthrough and later you will unlocking more cool new weapons. And you will also unlock tools as well which will let you go to places you couldn't before. And the game has cool levels with collectibles that will reward the player for being found like the cadeaux which they are 666 of them throughout the game and collecting all of them gives accese to the Light Soul that supercharges the Shadow Gun and upgrades other weapons, although when I got this reward I already completed almost everything in the game so I unfortunatly didn't get to use it much but it is really really cool still and very powerful. The game has cool levels including swamps prisons and the diemension of Deadside, an evil world with demonic creatures and evil buildings. You can go back to previous levels to collect items or go to new levels or progress story it is kind of like an open world. In the game there are secrets that you can unlock when you unlock a secret it can be toggled on or off in the pause menu and they do cool things like changing the player character or turning on a disco mode. And the game has a cool story and you play as Shadow Man Michael LeRoi who is part of a group of people who have protected the living world from threats from Deadside for thousands of years called the Shadow Men and Michael LeRoi is the current Shadow Man. The game has a fun and cool storyline to play through playing as Shadow Man fighting a group of villains. And the game has a cool variety of different enemies including the enemies hounds and zombies and flying enemies with wings called Dead Wing and the Trueform which are giant powerful enemies. I think it is a amazing game that is really fun to play through. It is one of my favourite games of all time. Thank you for reading.

Not really my cup of tea. Still, I can see why people like it. It's very, *very* similar to Soul Reaver but with a much less easy to navigate overworld. It's probably pretty telling that - according to the Steam achievement stats - two thirds of all players don't even get as far as the first boss.
