Play With Me, developed and published by Airem, is a psychological horror game that attempts to blend the unnerving atmosphere of an escape room with the tension of a survival thriller. Players step into the shoes of Robert Hawk, a journalist who, after a mysterious car crash, wakes up to find himself trapped in a sinister environment controlled by an enigmatic figure known as Illusion. The premise is simple yet effective: to escape, you must solve a series of puzzles, confront illusions both literal and figurative, and make choices that may alter the outcome of the story. From the outset, the game establishes an unsettling tone, using dim lighting, oppressive sound design, and constant uncertainty to keep the player on edge. The core gameplay revolves around puzzle-solving, and this is where Play With Me shows both its strengths and weaknesses. Many of the puzzles are designed to make players pay close attention to their surroundings, whether it’s deciphering codes hidden in graffiti, piecing together cryptic messages, or spotting numbers embedded within environmental details. Some of the more creative moments involve optical tricks that require players to physically step back from their screens to reveal hidden patterns, showcasing an inventive approach to engagement. However, for every clever puzzle, there are others that lean too heavily on tedious number hunts or trial-and-error sequences. At times, it feels like the game prioritizes obscurity over logic, leading to stretches of frustration where progression depends more on guesswork than genuine deduction. Atmosphere is one of the game’s strongest assets. The visuals employ a dark, painted style that contributes to a sense of dread, while environmental details such as insects crawling across the screen or flickering shadows help create the illusion that something is always lurking just out of sight. The audio design reinforces this mood, with subtle whispers, eerie ambient noises, and sudden crescendos amplifying tension. Yet the same design choices that enhance the atmosphere sometimes work against the gameplay. Poor lighting can make it difficult to identify important objects, and the reliance on limited light sources like matches, which initially burn out too quickly, adds more frustration than fear. While updates have improved these mechanics, the balance between immersion and playability is not always steady. The narrative serves more as a backdrop for the puzzles than a driving force. The idea of Illusion as a manipulative antagonist is intriguing, and the concept of being tested through moral decisions and perception-based traps has strong thematic potential. However, the execution leaves the story feeling skeletal, with Robert’s dialogue and reactions often failing to carry the emotional weight of his dire situation. Choices are presented as meaningful, and multiple endings exist to encourage replayability, but the branching outcomes rarely feel distinct enough to fully justify repeated playthroughs. The mystery surrounding Illusion and Robert’s plight is more compelling in concept than in how it ultimately unfolds. Despite these shortcomings, Play With Me does succeed in carving out a unique identity within its genre. It combines the claustrophobic tension of escape rooms with horror elements in ways that can genuinely unsettle, particularly for players new to puzzle-heavy games. It also experiments with breaking the fourth wall, challenging players to engage with puzzles in unconventional ways. While some may find the mechanics clunky and the puzzles uneven, others will appreciate its willingness to attempt something different. Its modest length—usually just a few hours for a single playthrough—means it does not overstay its welcome, and its low price point makes it more approachable for curious players. Ultimately, Play With Me is a game that thrives on atmosphere and originality but struggles with consistency. It captures the unsettling mood of psychological horror and delivers a few standout puzzle moments, yet it also frustrates with opaque design, uneven storytelling, and technical quirks. It is best suited for players who enjoy experimental horror experiences and are patient with rough edges. For those who approach it with tempered expectations, it can offer a memorable, if imperfect, dive into the unsettling world crafted by Airem. Rating: 6/10

It is a horror escape room puzzle point-and-click game where you and your wife have been kidnapped and must escape a killer's twisted "Funhouse." Each room presents a series of puzzles that you need to solve to progress. For a low-budget indie game, it’s pretty well-made. You can definitely tell that there’s some inspiration drawn from the SAW franchise, especially in terms of atmosphere and audio design, which are done quite well. The puzzles are engaging at first, but after the first few rooms, they start to feel a bit repetitive. On the downside, the voice acting feels pretty cringe, and the UI is a bit clunky. Also, the animation for pulling out your phone or matches is slow, which can be frustrating, especially when you’re trying to solve puzzles quickly. It feels like the protagonist is underwater, and that just slows down the pacing of the game. If you’re into achievements, this one is easy to 100%. Overall, while the game isn’t perfect, it’s still unique and different from other horror-puzzle games. If you're a horror and puzzle fan, it's worth a try—just pick it up at a heavy discount to get the most value out of it.

I enjoyed playing this game, though there were a few things that made it a bit annoying at times. The puzzles are pretty creative and each one feels unique, which kept things fresh. However, some of the code puzzles were a bit off, the solutions didn't always make logical sense, which meant getting stuck and a bit frustrated here and there. The game doesn’t go too heavy on horror, so don’t expect constant scares, but it does have a few solid jump scares. the story was interesting, letting you confused about the whole situation until you finish the game and also keeps you engaged with the short "interactions" between the others characters. There’s also cool element like mini-games on the in-game phone. They don’t affect the main story, but they were a fun break from the puzzles. I think it would’ve been interesting if there was an achievement related to them. Overall, while the puzzles might be a bit frustrating at first, the game’s originality and story make it worth a play. Took about 5 hours to complete the whole game, achievements included.
