I came here to clean. I stayed because this game emotionally reprogrammed me. At first glance, PowerWash Simulator looks like a humble little “spray dirt, watch number go up” situation. You think: Oh, this will be relaxing. A background game. Something to pass the time. Wrong. This game grabs you by the hose and whispers, “You will not stop until it’s 100%.” The dopamine? Immaculate. The satisfaction of watching filth melt away under a perfectly aimed stream of water? Transcendent. The moment when ONE TINY SPECK is hiding somewhere on a roof beam and you rotate the camera like a feral raccoon trying to find it? Spiritual trial. And then—AND THEN— there’s the alien story. Excuse me??? Why is my silly little pressure washer game suddenly dropping quirky, mysterious, slightly unhinged lore about aliens and strange happenings like it’s casually seasoning the experience with X-Files energy?? I did not expect to be emotionally invested while power-washing a town that may or may not be involved in extraterrestrial nonsense. But I was. Hooked. Fully onboard. This game is perfect for passing time, losing time, and accidentally entering a meditative state where nothing exists except dirt, water, and your unrelenting desire for cleanliness. It’s cozy. It’s funny. It’s weird. It’s way better than it has any right to be. I loved it. I will defend it. And if you don’t understand the joy of seeing “Job Complete – 100% Clean,” then I am sorry, but you simply have not lived. 10/10, would wash again. 💦🛸

This is an absolutely fantastic game. I've played it through multiple times, and gotten as many achievements as I could stand to get without becoming frustrated with the game (because I play this game to relax)! I picked it up at the beginning of this year when I was going through chemotherapy for breast cancer, as I wanted something I didn't have to think too hard about, and could do pretty mindlessly. I was more than surprised, though, by how much I genuinely enjoyed playing the game. The text messages from your clients and friends were funny, the overarching story was actually interesting, and the maps are fantastically well done. But the best part is that you don't even have to pay attention to any of that. You can just wash things. You're a passive participant in the storyline. The actual wash mechanics are the best I've seen out of any simulator-type game. It is immensely satisfying. But all the other reviews are correct-- it is also immensely addicting. My only complaint is that the second one hasn't come out yet. I've already purchased all the DLC and unfortunately can't re-purchase, but my wallet is ready and waiting for PWS2. I have definitely purchased it for some friends that wanted to help me clean things. Might go on a spree and get it for all my friends who have it on their wishlist... hmm. [insert gnome here]

I never expected to find PowerWash Simulator—a game about spraying virtual dirt off of fences, playgrounds, and ancient statues—to become my absolute favorite game of all time. But here we are. What begins as a humble power washing gig in the fictional town of Muckingham slowly evolves into something almost spiritual. The gameplay loop is incredibly simple: point, spray, clean. But there’s a meditative rhythm to it, a kind of digital zen garden that sucks you in and doesn’t let go. Whether you're removing decades of gunk from a rusty fire truck or unveiling the clean lines of a dinosaur-themed playground, each job feels like a quiet triumph. There’s no rush, no time limits unless you want them. No enemies, no fail state—just you, your washer, and the satisfying hiss of high-pressure water cutting through grime. It’s the ultimate escape. I’ve played late into the night more times than I care to admit, chasing that final 1% of invisible dirt on the underside of a ladder or the wheels of a monster truck. It’s therapeutic. It’s oddly beautiful. It’s… perfect. But I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t mention what happened to my great uncle Bruce. A man of intensity and curious taste, Uncle Bruce took an interest in the game one afternoon after I told him it was “like pressure washing your soul.” He played for three straight hours, hunched in front of the monitor, completely locked in. Somewhere between cleaning the skate park and finishing the gnome-infested temple, he had a seizure. Now, Bruce is fine. He’s fully recovered and insists that it wasn’t the game—it was “the intensity of the cleansing,” as he dramatically puts it. But it’s now part of our family lore: “The PowerWash Incident.” Every time I boot up the game, I think of Bruce, bless him, and his overly ambitious attempt to 100% the Ancient Statue map in one sitting. So yes, my favorite game of all time nearly hospitalized a family member. But that’s just part of its legend now. PowerWash Simulator is a masterpiece of calm, of slow-burn satisfaction, and of strangely compelling gameplay that proves you don’t need explosions or combat to feel accomplished. It’s not just a game—it’s therapy with a hose. Uncle Bruce, this one’s for you.
