i found this game while looking for ancient Egypt themed games and I’m so glad i did. it is endearing, educational, entertaining, gives you lots to think about on how creative and resourceful people have always been from the dawn of time. a puzzle game with lots of substance. definitely recommend it for history lovers and puzzle game players.

A good turn-based strategy game set in Ancient Egypt. The game feels more like a puzzle than a traditional strategy: the main events are fixed, random events occur on the same turns, and there are no AI opponents. As a result, all playthroughs feel quite similar, and the game doesn’t offer much replayability after completion. However, the nice graphics, historical accuracy, and engaging gameplay make it enjoyable for a few pleasant evenings. Runs well on Deck.

I've been interesting in looking into Egyptian history and mythology lately and playing this game was part of riding that wave of interest. As others have said it's mostly a puzzle game which follows the history of Pre-Dynastic Egypt. Historical accuracy seems quote notable, they clearly put a lot of effort into that side of the game which I very much appreciate. A single playthrough doesn't take too long (mine was 4-5 hours) but you could replay to try and fare better. I'm not sure how much changes. It seems like it might be mostly pre-scripted (hence why its puzzle more than strategy) but then have a few random events mixed it. I technically failed my first and only run but it was literally one turn away from victory so I feel like I still saw basically the whole game and that's enough for me for the time being. I paid full price, wasn't even on a sale. But I enjoyed my time with it, however brief. A big part of that may have been because I've been riding that interest in Egypt I mentioned above, so if you are not interested in Egyptian stuff at the moment your mileage may vary. But if you do have that itch, this can help scratch it!

Surprisingly enjoyable, because it's surprisingly deeper and wider than it appears at first glance. Kind of on the rails type of game (like many mods for Civilization), but the unique missions that take place regularly through the game make one have to change their strategy and get you out of a repetitive rut that make some other larger games feel more dull than this one that can have a game finished in a day. Feels like a good game engine that with some tweaks could easily expand into something even better. So I'm going to keep an eye for their next game too.

I was surprised by this efficiency puzzle 4X (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate). It's true what they say: the best solo games are efficiency puzzles. A mellowing 50-something artistic realist, I enjoy this sensory experience: it's a pleasant blend of sights and sounds; audio is animal and rain sounds and village life, and visuals are stylized Egyptian art and hieroglyphics. Nothing alarming, stressful or violent. Entertaining history lesson for a lazy Sunday afternoon. The theme of Egyptian mythology reminds me of Spirit Island, King of Dragon Pass, Against the Storm and Terra Mystica. Religion plays an important part in the fate of your tribe, as it has throughout history. Worker-placement mechanics are kept fresh by a changing map as you scout and build, trade and raid. As it says, "bold plans and fierce might" are indeed needed to actually achieve the ever-expanding goals to victory. My first game I was having fun "treading water" and the game allows you to do that, before announcing finally that I had lost and was as "wise as a baby!" So of course I had to play again, and was itching to pass one of the 7 or 8 trials this time, which I finally did, but it was a challenge! I had to pay more attention, actually learn some of the history and religion, and then prioritize accordingly. It's light strategy, not deep, but still good "work for brain", and mine needs work, that's for sure. It took me about 7 hours to play through Predynastic Egypt. It was engaging the whole time! Like one of those Civ games: "Just one more turn!"
