Heavily underrated, people are only fully appreciating the Prototype series now, they had planned a third game and further expansions into a whole universe, but since this game didn't initially sell that well they scrapped everything. Hopefully at some point enough support can be drummed up to bring this IP back to life, it's strangely one of the most epic and pretty in-depth, basically playing as Venom in the zombie apocalypse. One of the the best parts of the game is the soldiers and zombies actually fight, and parts of the map will change the landscape based on what goes down. If it's under military control, exactly that. Zombie control, the block turns into a hellscape filled with flesh and blacklight pustules. and if they stalemate over the same spot long enough, it eventually gets completely destroyed into a barren wasteland, which can be recolonized by humans and start the whole process over again, creating a complex, warlike, evolving ecosystem.

Prototype 2 is a lot more fun compared to the original, and is definitely worth playing if you liked the original. No spoiler overview of things relating to the game: Fixes, PlayStation buttons, Movement/Gameplay, Story/Missions, DLC, Achievements. Fixes required You're going to need to grab the Prototype2Fix from Nexus Mods, which you can just paste into the game folder. You may set need to lock the framerate of the game to 60 fps, or run at whatever fps you want, but change the following values in 'prototype_fix.ini': RemoveTickRateLimit to true , and FixButtonTapTickRate to true . If you find that Heller is moving towards the right when sprinting, just set those back to false. Dualsense / DS4 Prompts If you use a Dualsense / DS4 and want ps prompts, this dude has links for the textures in the comments of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXx5wza7e6M You will need TexMod for this. Put Texmod.exe in the game folder. Rename the "prototype2.exe" to "prototype2original.exe", and rename "prototype2engine.dll" to "prototype2originalengine.dll". Then rename "Texmod.exe" to "prototype2.exe". When you open the game through Big Picture mode, it will open texmod. You then need to browse for the "prototype2original.exe" as the target application, and you can load the .tpf file downloading from the youtube comment section in package area. This will replace Xbox prompts to PS4 or PS5 buttons. Movement/Gameplay Movement controls have been changed a bit (for controller), but you get used to it after a while. In the original, it often feels like you're fighting with the movement system, but in P2, it feels a bit better to control Heller. Not sure if it is because of the fix or a problem with the game itself, but Heller slightly moves towards the right when sprinting. I mentioned it in the fixes part. Regarding the powers, I like that there's less amount of moves compared to Prototype 1's numerous moves that you had to purchase using points. I barely used them in 1, so I liked this simpler system better. Maybe you may not like that. Story/Missions To be honest, the story is just fine, not too much suspense or anything. The original game's story is slightly better, cause you don't really know what is happening, and you're learning about the world and what happened to it as you progress. Prototype 2's story is pretty okay but the gameplay is why you should play this game. The missions are better in Prototype 2, and the game doesn't get as frustrating as the original. DLC There is a Radnet DLC for $9.99, which is extra challenges, skins, and has leaderboards with other players. These challenges are fun, but I don't recommend buying it for $9.99, which is almost the price of the game on sale ($9.99). If you can get it for way lesser by getting the Franchise bundle on sale, which gives Prototype 1, 2 and Radnet for $14.99, then it's worth it. If not, just skip it, but the challenges are pretty nice, and get easier as you upgrade Heller. Getting 100% Achievements \ Perfect Game To get 100% Achievements or Perfect game, you will need to play on Hard mode at least once as there is a achievement to beat the game on Hard mode . There is no new game+ achievement, but there is achievement which is for fully leveling up Heller. There are two ways you can go about this: You can farm Lairs (sort of like mini-dungeons) or Blacknet missions (I did Set 12 Infection 8-A or 8-D i think), by consuming bonus experience targets and then restarting checkpoints, OR play new game+ . I did the farming because I didn't want to play the campaign all over, but I think I may have taken more time farming. They really made the level up system in a way where you need to play new game+, which I don't like to do in games. However, I recommend just doing New Game+, as farming got really boring. There is also an achievement for getting all consume upgrades: these appear randomly throughout the game, and through missions. You may have to run around or fast travel between islands to search. Expected time to get 100%: Around 20-25 Hours.

This game confirmed I haven't changed; the gaming industry has. Startup bugs and modern hardware fixes: [url=nexusmods.com/prototype2/mods/42]https://www.nexusmods.com/prototype2/mods/42 And if you get a bug doing the bonus objective/jumping claw slash you have to limit your framerate to 30 somehow and retry the tutorial.

Can we get a third game? With the abysmal state that super hero games are in apart from Spider-Man, I think there's a place for a dark, gory, more mature game like Prototype in the current landscape! I'd love to see what could be done on modern hardware
