Buy MAHOUTEQ! instead. Strong way to start a recommended purchase, but this game is a rough draft basically of the devs early work, it feels unfinished like just a demo; most of its players (& myself) are totally lost on what happened! But, it was good if you want more of motijans' work, the visuals and soundtrack are really great, the Steam store page sells it really well but then the hype doesn't carry over while playing it, however the other reviews are way too harsh on it at the same time. This really isn't that bad :/ If you decide to go through all the endings it does become much better, and at the secret ending you get a glimpse of that quality that motijan gave us with "MAHOUTEQ!" Now for more of the positives, this game has accessibility features, doomed yuri which is a big appeal for many people, absurdity, short playthrough time, easy 100% achieves, doesn't take itself seriously, & the price really isn't asking anything, if you want more after completing MAHOUTEQ! this is worth the buy! The shrimp ending is also awesome too :)
As can be gleamed from the screenshots, the art is stylish, and it's the main thing that completely sells the game. The music was surprisingly well-done too, it really has this melancholy, desolate feeling that perfectly matches a world that has lost all hope. But this is also why I feel the writing's the weakest part of the whole experience. The length is too short for you to fully get invested into the world, descriptions are pretty literal and scaled-back; there's some "surrealness" to it, yet the writing conveys no strong sense of imagery--the atmosphere is purely carried by the art and music. The translation also has one too many errors for a game so short. Maybe I'm being needlessly critical.....I just think the dev has a lot of skills and if they were to improve on their writing, they could make something really incredible.
i don’t even know how to describe this properly. i played for 4 hours and i have no idea where the time went. at first, i thought it was just some weird nonsense, but it actually got to me. it’s a visual novel about a girl dragging a cannon across a desert and dealing with all this heavy guilt, and it’s surprisingly sad if you actually pay attention. there are moments in this game that just hit hard, even when you're just clicking through dialogue and having no clue what's going on. anyway, if you want something that actually makes you sit there and think instead of just mindlessly playing, pick this up. i really liked it.
This game had its moments and was a short and memorable experience. The protagonist is relatable but beyond that the other characters are so strange, absurd, and funny at times. The world is devoid of any life and raises more questions. Just looking at it, there's this mysterious and eerie atmosphere that just evokes curiosity about what could have happened.
