This game is truly a masterpiece. I've never played a game that had my pulse go up this much and kept me in my seat like this one. It is brutally punishing and there were a few times I thought I'd never be able to finish this. But it was worth every penny. If you enjoy grinding hard an getting better in a game, this is for you. If you hate loosing and need a story that progresses continously, stay away from it.

More people need to play this game. Get it while it's on sale, because despite how much I like this game nothing should be $60 several years after release.

Its a great game but has some bad bugs. A four hour run was gone because the weapons where not working as intended. This same issue was reported years ago on ps version as well with no action taken by developers. I love the game and recommend it but the game needs important bug fixes.

After 40 hours and finally making it to the 5th biome, I've decided this is my favorite game Sony has published since Bloodbourne. Unique take on the Rogue-like genre due to blending strong production values with a gameplay loop you'd normally find from the Indie scene. I took me awhile to learn to be aggressive taking risks in terms of pickups but once I did, the game clicked. Movement and gun-play feel good. There's a nice variance in weapons. Returnal tells an interesting story while not asking you to put your controller down unlike most narrative driven games. Great atmosphere which calls back to the mystique I had the first time I played Metroid on the NES. This mashup of bullet time and Rogue-like genres contains great atmosphere, fun moment to moment gameplay, and an interesting mystery to unravel.
