I bought it because I thought that Rhythia had finally had an official release on Steam. But then I looked into the Rhythia discord server and it turns out the game on Steam isn't the "official" Rhythia. From what I've been reading, the team split up. The guy who was responsible for the backend, server, etc., had been paying for it and maintaining it, and wanted to monetize it. The devs, on the other hand, wanted Rhythia to be open source and free without monetization. I did some digging, trying to find anything suspicious about it, but to be honest, I couldn't find anything alarming enough to be concerned. I guess the "main" guy behind Rhythia and the devs had different plans and directions for the game. I support both teams and I hope both will get proper support and development. Nonetheless, the game is nice. The last time I played it was way back in 2023-2024, and it wasn't enjoyable for me. This seems polished, responsive, and overall my experience is very decent. I'm kinda shocked about the whole thing because I was sure the whole team released it, but well, turns out it's a different project now.

Minus the situation from the different dev teams and review bombing of the enthusiasts from the offline version of the game, the Rhythia steam release is definitely still a successful and faithful reproduction of the first draft of the game, Blox Saber or Sound Space whatever name you wanna ♥♥♥♥♥ about. The decision to put this game behind a paywall isn't too controversial (Its like 6 AUD son) and similar features that the standalone game first blew up with such as advanced personalisation and custom songs are included in this version aswell. Having spent a good amount of hours in all three versions of the game, actually im not sure if 10 hours on release is a good amount of hours, I think I can confidently say this version of Rhythia is definitely the strongest and could become a popular competitor in rhythm gaming very soon.
