I was just minding my own business when a kind stranger suddenly asked me to come play this game with him. As a tired COD veteran still recovering from the recent BO7 travesty, I thought… why not? It was on sale and it is from the golden era 2017 so it can't be bad right. After 1 Hrs in the game. this happened - so much action i forgot time. - i didn’t feel toxic even once due to rich content instead of stupid loots. - this game feels just like cod world at war which was my favourite fps game back then. - never knew about a war in vietnam but now i know. - that stranger became my good friend in under an hour. I cannot believe that this 2017 war game is better than this year's Call of duty Black ops7 . Very well made game.

The first match I played I was in a match with a bunch of screaming russians on my team as the vietcong 10/10 totally historically accurate gameplay, worth every penny.

Others may deserve to play this game and keep playing it, but I am not so sure about that personally. For those that do, here is how to make it Easy Mode and potentially more palatable for you: 1. Never ever use Game Type matchmaking. Only the Server Browser. 2. The Server Browser has a Ping Limit filter of 200ms by default. You must clear this manually by setting it to All and Applying to be able to load the true full list of servers in-game. 3. Gameplay settings. Turn off Enable Reload When Check Ammo is Low to avoid a forced retention reload on MG belts and more if they are low, but not empty. Also enable Advanced Flight Model here. 4. Player View & HUD settings. Set a wide FOV to Display Teammate Names to be able to see them more often, and not have as many friendly fire incidents. Also turn off Display Friendly Team as Blue and Enemy as Red, and Turn On Enable Developer Console here. 5. Video Settings. Turn off Depth of Field to see clearly no matter your sightlines. You will need this to be Off to pixel hunt. Also, Instanced Rendering can be disabled to preference; I prefer it to be Off. Authentic Postprocessing is Unfiltered map lighting, and more colorful than it was in Red Orchestra 2. Enhanced is more like documentary footage; washed out, and heavy on greens, blues, and brown-oranges. 6. Learn how to prime your grenades with the mouse. Manually select grenades with Number Keys to equip. LMB Overhand, Scroll Wheel Click Underhand. After holding to prime a throw, tap the other bind to pop the safety and cook as a South team member. That is all. Good bye.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a very solid FPS in the rather unique setting of the Vietnam war. While player-count is not as high as it used to be (nor is it close to what it actually DESERVES to be), there are several dedicated servers and a tight-knit amount of players dedicated to playing, so finding a full server to join is still very possible. This game does have a fairly stout degree of a "learning curve", as it is not akin to the likes of COD or Battlefield. It takes more actual effort, thought, & tactical-action to firstly stay alive, and secondly, take down enemies & capture objectives. Truly sticking to the bushes, staying off paths & open fields, moving slow & methodically, and keeping LOW - crouched & crawling often - are staples to survival here. One must use their wits & sense to stay alive & to support ones team. The gunplay is very satisfying; wherein, to me, weapons actually have the (illusion-feeling) of there being weight to them. Sort of like another really solid shooter, Insurgency Sandstorm, guns act well within their capabilities... Getting shot through walls, cars, and all manner of objects is going to occur... since, y'know, bullets do pierce things! On the counter, one is of course, able to blast through such things oneself. Now, one rather common forum posting I see, & wanted to comment on is sayings that are basically, "when does this get fun, how are you having fun, i just die, i cant ever learn the maps," and similar sentiments. To be perfectly clear, majority of these postings are faults that fall solely on the person playing. Skill issue, mad cause bad, that sort of thing, is actually the answer. Lol. On the flipside; there are many empty servers, where on can join and "stroll" through the maps at leisue, if one needs to learn maps that way. But guess what the BEST way to learn maps AND get better at the game is? - Playing the game. Yep, that's right! As you play, (if one has some basic brain power), one can observe and adapt their play-style accordingly. Note what methods work, which ones dont, and go from there. Tis a basic manner of doing things for many things in life. - Also, to the posts about "when does it get fun"... THIS is an issue with YOUR/ONES OWN mindset & perception. If one is approaching / going into (anything really) with a preconceived set of feelings/viewpoints, such as, "this game isnt fun cause its too hard", you're already setting thyself up for a bad time. - Instead, be neutral; go with the flow. Allow oneself to experience what is being presented, not what one is desiring/wanting. People too often have expectations of just about any & every-thing, and generally, expectations that are far-out / absurd. Do away with expectations, be open to what is offered, and flow/adapt from there. This approach allows for a lot more fun / uniqueness to occur in an experience... --------- Also: Long Campaign gamemode is my personal favorite, it really adds another "tactical" feeling layer to the game, and I highly suggest playing through some campaign modes. I'm wiggin' out, man!
