I played Sackboy with a friend who was very important to me. We had a lot of fun playing it together, laughing, helping each other through the levels, and just enjoying the time we had. Unfortunately, we never got to finish the game. Things happened, and now I know that we will never meet again or sit down and continue where we left off. Because of that, it is difficult for me to think about Sackboy as just a game. Whenever I see it, I remember that person and the good moments we shared while playing it. In a strange way, those unfinished levels have become part of the memory too. We never got to finish the game, and sadly, we never got to finish many of the plans we had either. I wish we had had more time. But the moments we did get to share were real, joyful, and unforgettable, and I will always be grateful for them. Some games stay unfinished. The memories don’t.
An actually super underrated platformer. It definitely borrows pretty heavily from Super Mario 3D World, but that's not a bad place to pull from. The music levels are absolutely stellar too. There are the collectibles to find and score attacks to chase, and the story is pretty cute. There are two gripes I have. I usually 100% games like this, but so much of the collectibles are trapped in multiplayer, but no one is playing. Also, the performance got a little choppy in spots which is strange for an older game with this hardware. Still, those don't diminish what is a game people need to check out as it might be the last Sony platformer on PC for awhile.
Removing the creative tools from a series all about imagination was never going to translate into sales, was it? Judging on its own merits however, it makes for a fun little adventure. Some replayability with collectibles and challenges. Decent platforming and a soundtrack made up of remixed songs. Would only suggest this in co-op though as the game is clearly built around it. That and getting a stage complete photo and trophy on your own must be depressing.
