Soulash 2, Kenshi, Adventure Mode DF, Elin, this game. There's a special world out there wherein these types of games are more common, but right now, this one does a DAMN fine job at the advertised gameplay. This is a fantastic open ended sandbox RPG. I am even seeing some Ruinarch concepts here, before that game died it was nearly one of the legendaries. There are no god powers here, but there's so much to do in regards to messing with the history of your little towns. A grand focus on the dynamism and reactivity of NPC's would be nice! More, mess with this person in this way and a logical reaction occurs, but otherwise! Gotta say, this game is shaping up to be one of the greats.

Sure, the graphics might look a little janky, but underneath is a game with a lot of heart and soul. This wasn't even on my radar despite being a huge fan of management style games and being a *mild* fan of The Guild series. What made me hit the add to cart button was seeing such an active solo developer. There are regular worthwhile updates and improvements being made and from what I can tell, so much of them were originally player suggestions or based on feedback. I LOVE that so much. There is a bit of learning curve, but not much more than your other detail management style games like Crusader Kings. If you just like to optimise systems and strategies, you can play without having to attend to needs. I now have a few different saves that I play depending on the play style I have that day. One where I can just start sending out my caravans with luxury goods and totally go Medieval Tycoon on it and another where I'm micromanaging my character and the skills their developing. Some other favourite things I would like to mention: - The completely fresh start map, Defenascir, makes you feel like you're actually one of the villagers in Banished (a favourite game). - I actually love that my horse and cart can go to the shops for me. I imagine the horse pulling up to the market with a wet note in its mouth "fruit, eggs, milk, barley, 1 x Leather Hooded Amour (currently on sale)". - I acquired all the silver coins to throw feasts at my Longhouse, but the only people that showed up were CHILDREN and they DRANK MY ALE and proceeded to drunkenly stumble out. - I tried so hard for the king to like me, but not even the other Thegns came to my feast. - Note, these are the same kids that do the floss dance DURING the sermon in church. It comes to no surprise that these children are also thieves. - I don't care that they are 12 and have no relevant skills, I am hiring them to work at my mines. I think of this as community service in order to keep the kids off the streets. - I may be the town abbot, but that does not stop me from creating poisonous cheeses to gift to rival business owners. If they are of sturdy constitution, there's always a place for a little bit of arson. - The routing issues create some pretty funny visuals, like 3 carts colliding and then pushing against each other futiley and kind of spin slowly like a slow horse and cart propeller lol. - Every other villager has its own AI life. Sometimes I wish I could see what was going on in their heads, like see what their connections are because they'll do things like run across town to just verbally assault someone, and I know it's not random because you start noticing patterns in their friendship networks by with who they want to talk to and who they want to fight. It's kind of nice not knowing and just seeing the drama unfold. - Everyone is competing for and contributing to the same pool of resources so it makes it both fun to know that you're supporting the town by supplying basic goods, making it affordable for the townsfolk, but it's even nicer when you've monopolised the market and resources to starve off the competition. All in all, a fun game that has been going strength to strength since 2017 and I'm glad to be now part of the journey!

The fact that this developer keeps chipping away and has stuck with this project and not abandoned it like so many other developers is an absolute win. Well done good sir
