Almost refunded it as i found it boring, slow and empty at first But then gave it another chance the next day. Started slow, taking missions, learning how the game works, grinding for money to learn and begin trading. Now I completed my first transoceanic voyage with a huge profit rolling in and i love every moment of the game. Having tools to actually do navigation for yourself and spotting land after a 11 day voyage across the ocean is an unforgettable moment of the game. Also you have to learn how to sail ships but it's not that hard. Though there's a lot, i mean A LOT of ship customization for any kind of rigging you want so... The graphics are simple and i'd like some more realistic one but it's good and actually looks beautiful at times Ships are slow, distances are large, most of the time there's nothing to do. That's when you can pass time by cleaning the ship, fishing, prepping, cooking food, plotting course or just texting your friends as you sail on. Other times the fury of the high seas strikes on you with brutal storms and towering waves and you have to actively fight both the waves and the winds to avoid capsizing and sinking, losing all your precious cargo, giving you no break from the thrill. I realized this game is exactly what i was looking for a long time. A game where you sail, navigate, manage your ship, pack your ship full with cargo and just trade and explore. I recommend it for virtual seafarers who aren't looking for 0/24 action. It's a relaxing game.

A one of a kind gem A simple game at first glance, but the depth to it is incredible A paralel world with 3 aechipelagos which represent the maritime history of each region and the ships of that region irl The arabic dows in AL ank The Chinese junk ships in esmerald And the European brigs ships in asterin (the cog is not a caravel lol) Along with uncharted islands and "secret" locations Once a player found an island and it was named after him/her. You can check discord and see it for yourself You can use the quadrante to navigate using the stars or the suncompass, you can trade goods between múltiple regions, you can plot a rout using the trade winds or just do what ever you want. It may be frustrating and hard sometimes specially for someone with no maritime experience but this game rewards patience, but once you learn the ropes you can open up a new world of gaming memories and experiences you may never get from a triple A title

The bad: The game is still in development. There are some glitchy things that aren't quite deal breakers but they can get annoying. Jumping through the docks is probably my biggest peeve, especially when carrying something. The new storage system (you can now put things into crates, not just take them out) can be frustrating if you aren't standing in just the right spot or the boat is rolling. It's too easy to move things accidentally, which can be frustrating when you get things settled just right, then you accidentally move a crate while trying to get something out of another one and then all of your crates shift and you can't put things back the way they were. The game economy makes it fairly easy to make gobs of money on the longer voyages... almost too easy. Two or three voyages around the triangle with the right cargos and you're rich. If you're looking for action you may want to look elsewhere. The good: You have to think some. It's not mindless roaming. It's relatively easy to get around using the tools provided, but you're not going to open a map screen and see "oh, I'm right there, so I need to do this to get to where I want". You're going to have to guestimate based off of the sun & stars mixed with a bit of dead reckoning and patience. I like the balance between starting off and expanding out as your skills grow. You don't need to do a huge ocean crossing right off the bat; the smaller island chains are fun and great for getting the basics down. That said, it's a good feeling seeing land after 14 game days (~3 to 4 play hours) if you make your first crossing on the starter ship. The future: The devs seem to be very responsive and have a road map that they've posted as to their future plans. There is huge potential for growth just based off of the towns and villages I've wandered around in the game. The world is fairly bare bones at the moment in terms of who and how you can interact but there are lots of buildings with closed doors that are ripe for expansion down the road. The world is relatively small but there are already areas that are off the map. Right now there is no damage or real maintenance needed for the boat; that's supposed to be in the works. As it is, checking your sails, fishing, watching the weather is pretty nice.

It's a good time killer, I look forward to seeing more updates to the game; it has potential. Although, currently the game still suffers the same issues since I started playing it 3 years ago. They are: 1. Despite having a reputation system, the grind to make money is a slog fest, I personally don't like that the mission reward money is based on the distance between the locations and there never grow alongside your rep which I feel would give players more incentive to do them. (The trade market is just a better way of making money compared to the missions) 2. Not enough ships or customisation parts. (A sail preview feature before you select the sail would be sweet) 3. There's still a lot room for more locations and landmarks to be added 4. Some islands either have markets or are still very scarce (Alchemist Island for example, which is my least favourite place to trade from) 5. NPC ships still have a tendency to break quantum physics and try to merge into your ship or other npcs 6. Not having the luxury to configure features e.g. Hunger, Thirst, Food spoilage to be tweaked or enabled/disabled is something I would really love to see, just to have more options for a more casual play style would be fantastic. 7. I hate that sprinting chews through your thirst meter like it's nothing, considering the fact, that having water is such a constant stress factor in the game I'm hoping some of the issues I've mentioned get resolved in future updates; I do like this little sailing game and I would love to see it be further improved upon.

ADDICTIVE! The sailing experience in this game is better than ATLAS, NAVAL ACTION, SKULL & BONES, PIRATES OF THE BURNING SEA, UNCHARTERED WATERS...I've played all these games. Sailwind makes you really sail your ship. You not only control your rigging, wheel, and rudder but you can also modify it in the shipyard to your liking. Change your masts, sails, mizzen, bowsprit, forestay...etc. Also, this game requires navigation skills and duly gives you access to all the navigation tools necessary. You will make LONG sea journeys in this game and encounter the gambit of weather conditions. Navigation tools you can buy are the basic standard compass, sun compass, quadrant, chronometer, and chronocompass. The challenge of learning how to properly navigate, manipulate all sails and rigging, and be a successful maritime merchant all at once...it can definitely hook you. Oh, there's fishing and cooking as well. Another addictive aspect of this game is the grind. I'm a gamer so I enjoy a nice grind, and Sailwind gives it to you. The navigation tools, ship upgrades, and finally the purchase of a much larger and better ship...yeah, you will grind the money for all these things. If you've played any of the games aforementioned you'll definitely want to give this one a go. The day when this game becomes an mmo people won't go outside anymore. I hope the upcoming AHOY game has similar sailing features as SAILWIND. ⚓⛵
