don't play this game expecting it to be like hades. the only thing similar between the two in gameplay are the boons/blessings. savara is significantly slower paced and combat is meant to be methodical and more cautious. basically monster hunter where you have a go-to combo that you'll do every 5-10 seconds. but don't mistake that as it being boring, the build potential in this game is just as dopamine inducing. the game gets significantly better after the first few hours. if you're the type of person to drop a game based off first impressions i wouldn't spend the $20. otherwise, its a great game with even greater potential updates.

I feel this game is criminally misunderstood and some of the reviews genuinely infuriate me. First: This is not a hades-like, if you go in based on that , you will hate it. Combat is very deliberately balanced around a tight stamina bar, a weapon swap mechanic and a part break system with 3 distinct damage types. It favours precision and anticipation , if you want to just press attack until monster dies you will have a bad time. Second: Upgrades are important, there's a reason the game encourages you to break monster parts and trade your currency for them. Especially weapons, their level 5/10s perks give incredible benefits if you tune them to your playstyle. Most complains about 'hp sponges' come from people who have every weapon (and there's a lot) on level 2/3 and missing like 200-300% dmg while also attempting the harder scaling modifiers. Third: Weapon archetypes and their playstyles are very unique, if you don't vibe with one (such as the twin/greatsword combo from the tutorial, which I don't think is super good until later), try another! Just like a game like Monster Hunter, the difference between a new player and a veteran on what openings to exploit and how to prepare burst takes hours and leads to a massive snowball effect due to how stagger/stun works in this game. Overall an excellent game if you like slower, methodical combat and a light sprinkle of rpg-like progression. I echo the sentiment of relatively little variety but what is there is good, satisfying and leaves hours to get better at, including the typical roguelite progression loops and an evolving story. Even as someone not familiar with the wak-fu setting, the french dub was charming and affectionately weird. For one of their first ever games, i consider it an excellent success and i wish the devs good luck on their future endeavours (which i will check out with great interest).

BRO HOLY CRAP THIS IS FUN As an avid player of Roguelikes and a lover of Soulslikes, I am HAPPY with this game! It's a wonderfully cartoonish look at the genre - nothing too serious, limited story, all action, and BOY is that action great. This game is incredibly well balanced so far, and it's by far one of the most satisfying roguelikes I've gotten to play in a while. Looking forward to enjoying this more! EDIT: SOOOOOO good and it just keeps getting better! I was somewhat underwhelmed by the number of "blessing" and weapon types - a lot of the boosts to weapons and armor in particular just seemed kinda bland at first glance. But I stand happily corrected, as the specific boosts that each peace of armor or weapon give you are so well thought out to the point that it absolutely amazed me when I finally understood the builds I could make. It seemed like each weapon had its own subset of special skills - dual blades can deal more damage with each strike when upgraded, beetle weapons explode with every other attack, dragon weapons stun enemies faster, etc. etc. what I didn't know is that these affects STACK AND AFFECT ALL WEAPON ATTACKS. Got a dragon greatsword that stuns enemies quickly? Got a wolf spear that breaks enemy parts and deals extra damage to said broken parts? BAM the effects of both are present regardless of which weapon you use, and you turn into a heavy metal bruiser that can take out minibosses in 8 hits in some cases. This mechanic alone is a game-changer for me. It makes for so many possible builds that are viable that it seems like I can constantly switch to new weapons, even with styles I normally would hate, and enjoy the HECK out of them. There are even synergies between "blessings" (special buffs/abilities granted roguelike-style after completing a room), where each blessing can combine with another to allow for powerful build opportunities mid-game. I would love it if you could select a blessing to start with, much like a weapon, as that could allow for some extra refined building. My primary complaint about this game is that I WANT EVEN MOAR I want MORE weapons, MORE enemy types, MORE blessings, MORE bosses, MORE upgrade trees, and generally just MORE. So far, this is one of the coolest, most satisfying roguelikes I have ever played, and that's after dropping a significant amount of time into Risk of Rain 2, 30XX, and a frankly absurd number of hours across the roguelike genre as a whole. It has been a while since a game has held my attention this much, and I really hope this game explodes with popularity. I would love to see even more content.

Great game with nice gameplay, notably a very interesting weapon swap mechanic. A little short in content. Victory in "heat" (prestige) 15 in 12 hours, which seems to be an end to the story. Though I do have several hundred of hours in hades 1 and 2. The game does have a good challenge. Edit, I have 100% achievement in 25h, so quite short in content really.

The game loop is good art is beautiful BUT the game only have 5 enemy variations and only 3 levels and the levels are literally 1 screen long i though this game was in early access but apparently its 1.0 this should have been way cheaper for what offers
