After the first day's patch, the game got significantly better. The repair kits became more abundant instead of extremely-rare. Some of the repair items like gun lube now repair weapons in decent condition, so full repair kits are no longer needed for every little ding and scrape. Weapons I've been finding are a little easier to find, and they come in better condition than day one (day one was like 10% durability: now its closer to 60%). All in all, this game is NOT a Zero Sievert Clone. The gameplay is much different, and geared more to the explorer types than the homebody types. I still haven't found a house to buy or improve, but there is a stash to keep loot in. So no, you can't improve your base (that I've found) but it is a big place with lots to explore. One of my favorite parts of this game is the randomness of the NPC's. When exploring out in the wild, I NEVER know what I'll find. Sometimes it's dogs chillin in fields waiting in ambush, other times it's random squads of nearly any faction roaming. And the factions DO roam. Like, bandits will just suddenly run into you at the most random times, and it's never like they spawned in on you, but more like you were going to the same place. So far, great game for any serious Survival/Extraction players. Well worth the low cost, and if you find it on sale, grab it!
Finally a game that got me hooked again after ZS. As a Stalker, Tarkov lover this is a must play. Audio is superb. Animation (reloading etc) is cool. A living world similar to A-Life in Stalker Day 1 patch fixed the most annoying (to me) issues, including: - Quest Items now have a marker in the Inventory. - AI is not shooting outside of the Screen anymore. - Neutral NPCs can no longer be stealth-killed. and alot more, these 3 just made me hyped Many negative reviews are from ignorant players, who don't understand the role of a EA/alpha/beta tester. Or simply because they suck, or don't understand game mechanics. So, I think I need to take my step to recommend this.
Seriously? People are criticizing things here that make me wonder what's wrong with them. Okay, the game isn't perfect yet, bug-free and polished, but the core gameplay is spot on. Difficult and challenging, absolutely. Unfair? No, not really. As a hardcore STALKER GAMMA fan, I already love it. It's not for everyone, but I'm glad it's not too easy. STALKER 2 was a disappointment, overly simplified and geared towards casual gamers to appeal to the widest possible audience because it tried to please everyone, but in my opinion, it wasn't a real Stalker game anymore. A-Life already works better here than it did at the full release of STALKER 2, even though it's an Early Access title. The progression system here is excellent. Go out, do missions, loot, always with the knowledge that you can lose everything, like in an extraction shooter (but here you can recover your stuff)... the tension and atmosphere are simply brilliant despite the pixel graphics. Anyone expecting a polished, finished game should probably hold off for now. It's still in development, and some aspects are definitely not quite complete. But it's already very playable and a lot of fun... if you're into this niche genre. It's best compared to Stalker Gamma or, I think, Zero Sievert, but with its own unique approach, like the world and its story, which, from what I've seen so far, is really interesting. And according to the developers, some really cool things are coming, like more crafting, dismantling, etc., and that makes me happy. So, that's enough for now. I wish you all good loot in the... zone... oh, er, wasteland. ;)
This game from The Unsubscribe Podcast and No Shadow is approved by the Ministry of Truth. An agency of the Super Earth Federation. So far, I am very pleased playing the game. It reminds me of Intravenous with the gameplay, mixing with elements of your classic survival horror games. Happy to see an indie title polished on release. I would like to see 2 things added. Fast travel and the ability to track quest items. I also found myself dying quickly to rats or dogs, so i think damage stats on game start should be progressive to an extent. Beyond that though, I will be playing this after work for the coming weeks!... After approvals on Pepperbox
