I'm not very far into the game and have been experimenting with various pieces of the game and it's sandbox mode. The biggest issues are: Not being able to make multiple sandboxes Not being able to return to a sandbox after exporting it I want to use this to make things for DND characters and games, and with those games and characters evolving as time goes by I need to be able to return to a document and add more or change things as time goes by. This is something that absolutely MUST be added and I am unsure why something like being able to return to a drawing after the fact isn't already in the game as a base function.

You know how Tiktok ruined all hobbies like sketchbooks and colouring books where they make you think you need $300 sponsored crayons to be worth anything because it's actually a shopping addiction masquerading as a passion? Yeah just buy this game instead

Potioncraft and MSPaint made a biblically accurate baby. The game is an asset drag and drop, but it does such a good job of mimicking the style of illuminated manuscripts. The sandbox mode is going to be a lot of fun for creating handouts and things for RPG's. The one extra thing I really want in Sandbox mode is a plain modern white sheet of 8"X11" paper in portrait and landscape orientations so I can more easily design handouts for RPG's. You can buy printer friendly "aged" paper and these combined will make this a very specific tool perfect for a very specific art style. I look forwrard to additional updates for th game.

Overall I would recommend the game based on what it is right now. That said, I hope it continues to improve. I've tried the gameplay loop but to be honest, I've struggled to get into that. Instead I've spent hours in the sandbox and I love it! However, the Capital letters seen in the Demo and the Trailer are not in the game yet (developer has said there will be an update in a few weeks). There is no way to save/edit your creations. Once you are done they become flat image files. For my use, which was hoping to make handouts for DnD and LARP (something the dev showed off and even provided printables of) - being unable to edit is a HUGE blocker. There has also been a lot of hype about being able to mix/match elements to create new shapes and creatures. Which is true and really nice! But you can't save those either. So if you were hoping to have a recurring motif, character, or even layout - that's not possible. Overall its worth what I paid, and I'm excited to see what features might come down the road.

I’ve not reviewed a Steam game in over 15 years, but there has been a lot of love and work put into this game and it is well worth the price of admission! I’ve found the campaign mode to be fun and am excited at the possibilities that the sandbox mode offers. Potential improvements (launch day feedback): * Easier object grouping options for manipulating multi object creations. * Being able to save groupings of objects to use easily across multiple compositions in sandbox mode. * Having shortcut keys for object rotation being able to be held down to continuously rotate and object. * The option to use a ruler/grid for aligning assets in sandbox mode. * Customisation for keyboard shortcuts. * I’d love a way to create my dog in Scriptiorium, but I don’t think it is possible to depict her blotchy multi coloured coat with the options as they are at launch. * Even more assets would be great, a wider range of animal assets and assets for heraldry would be especially good.
