Heavily enjoy and would recommend. However, I dislike how some of the changes for House Flipper 2 weren't considered for this remake. The way House Flipper 2 allows us to paint walls allows for more creative freedom for the player. This game, however, has a very limited way of allowing creative freedom with it's painting mechanic. House Flipper 2's placement grid and catalogue would've made more sense for this remake. House Flipper 2's Equipment wheel seemed to be more efficient gameplay wise. House Flipper 2's Wall Building was more efficient as well. The "Clean Vision" mechanic of House Flipper 2 was a lot better than the Map Mechanic found in 1 as it actually shows what I miss rather than having me rely on attempting to figure out what small stain I left where just by staring at a map in the corner of my screen. The vacuum feels very inconsistent to use and does not remove dirt based on where you are looking but where the Vacuum head is facing which makes using the Vacuum feel clunky. I know you were trying to replicate 1.. I just wish the houses had more originality to them. There are a LOT of repeating house floor layouts that I wish were changed for the remaster. What I am saying is: While I heavily enjoy the remake, Original House flipper and House Flipper 2.. The second game seemed to fix a lot of issues of what I call "jankyness" that I had disliked with the first game. However, Remastered did not consider adding the second game's mechanics and only ended up copying how weird the first game's mechanics were. This may only be an issue I have faced. I just wished the second game's mechanics were added into the remaster as the second game's mechanics seemed to flow better and give the game a more polished feel.
Look, I love this game. I have it on every platform you can play it on, I have all the DLCs, it's probably the most-played game in my library along with Skyrim. This remaster is great, I have come around to HF2 also, what I'm trying to say is I am absolutely a fan and I love this game in all its versions. What I don't love, and what I simply have to complain about for my sanity, are the *#%#$# BUYERS. I hate these people so much, I never have their "notes" on while working on a house, and I'm actively sullen about any of them buying the finished house. First of all, what they care about seems to be decor, which in a flipped house is just STAGING, but that lady who is obsessed with tomatoes can get bent, it's an APARTMENT, VICTORIA OR WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS. The one that absolutely kills me is that "we don't have kids NOW, but we have to have TOYS for them!" Wait, what? Your hypothetical house has to have a toy for your future hypothetical children? Go to therapy! That's insane! Also Mr. I Need A Garage, please explain why you're even showing up for the APARTMENT I AM FLIPPING? I love when I do a whole house with a huge open living room and little nooks and a pool and what the hell ever, and these dumb dumbs are like, "Waaah, we can't hang out anywhere with the whole family :( " Yeah, that big-ass room isn't for your family because I didn't place one kid toy there, so how will you know it's okay? Do they not realize this is going to be THEIR house and if you want tomatoes, toys for your ghost children or w/e, a TV, a medkit (excuse me dude do you think I am furnishing this house from Walgreens?), a sauna, or "more room for your documents" that is UP TO YOU, idiots. Buy your own furniture! I am being silly here, but I DO wish the mechanic for the buyers was fixed in the remaster. I still can't sell a house to that dude who wants like, a rug, a cardboard box for a bed and two shelves in perfect distance from where he sleeps. Maybe this is just me, but I despise these buyers and their very hyper-specific, mostly decor-based needs for a house. It's like HGTV but even more insanely nit-picky! I get it, they're NPCs and you have to make arbitrary "qualifications" but why are there like six people buying every house I flip who are never satisfied? THAT IS A Y'ALL PROBLEM, SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR NEED FOR A DRESSING TABLE AND MORE THAN ONE WARDROBE AND LET ME LIVE, VICTORIA. IT'S CALLED IKEA.
After reading some of the mixed reviews that were posted, I was rather apprehensive at purchasing the Remastered Collection. I already owned most of the original game (was only missing the Diner DLC,) so I thought... Meh! What the heck! Take the plunge. Glad I did! I've rediscovered how fun and addictive this game is. I'm also enjoying the new content and lovely visuals. Not sure what all the gripe was about as I haven't had a glitch nor hiccup. Oh! And on top of that, I'm not even running it on Windows, but on CachyOS (Linux,) and my Alienware is 6 years old.
Prefacing this with the fact that I've played House Flipper and all of its DLC to the point I've obtained the Perfectionist achievement. It's a game I genuinely enjoy that allows me to do things I cannot economically nor physically do in real life (maybe someday, am I right, fellow American 20-somethings?). I'm currently finished with the base-game missions & working my way through the DLC missions. As I understand, Frozen Way is consistently working on patches to improve the game performance. With that in mind! This remaster is MUCH buggier than the original. I've had issues with menus not dismissing, furniture pushing me out of bounds, lighting engine difficulties, and textural hiccups. Each bug I've experienced has been reported - but I'd like to let people know that MAYBE they'd like to wait for a more stable version at the current price tag. I was able to run both House Flipper & House Flipper 2 on my current build without issue, but something about this remaster pushes the 3D rendering elements of my GPU to 75% to 80% even at medium settings, and the lighting - even when I turn the lights off behind me - tends to flicker after a specific amount of time, rendering the flashlight useless when working at night. While I would gladly attribute this to my older hardware, I was able to run the prior entries of this game without issue, and each patch I'm hoping things improve. I'll gladly edit this review once things stabilize, either through work from Frozen Way, or my own troubleshooting.
