Secret of the Magic Crystals is a charming fantasy management game built around raising, training, and breeding magical horses. Developed and published by Artery Games, it takes the familiar idea of running a horse farm and replaces ordinary breeds with creatures such as Pegasus, Unicorn, Fire-steed, Ice-steed, and Demon-steed. It is clearly a product of an earlier era of casual PC gaming, but its unusual concept and surprisingly large collection of activities give it more personality than its simple presentation might initially suggest. The main gameplay loop revolves around looking after horses while gradually improving the farm. Horses can become exhausted or sick, requiring players to care for them and restore their strength. This creates a light management component where maintaining healthy animals becomes part of preparing them for other activities. Breeding also plays an important role because players can produce horses with better talents, providing a straightforward sense of progression as the quality of the stable improves. Training gives these horses something productive to do beyond simply existing as collectibles. Four training fields are available, with five difficulty levels for each, allowing players to develop their animals before entering competitions. Horse racing provides another long-term objective, with 25 different cups available to collect. The mechanics are not especially complicated, but the gradual process of caring for a horse, improving it, and eventually succeeding in competitions can be satisfying for players who enjoy relaxed progression. There is also a questing component consisting of 30 missions centered on finding the lost magical crystals. Nevertheless, the colorful fantasy style has a nostalgic quality that complements the uncomplicated gameplay.
