This is a must have for everyone who likes actionpacked crazy over the top shooters in VR. I had never played the original versions of Serious Sam but I bought the VR bundle and didn't regret it. Some of these bosses are so freaking huge they still give me that WOW feeling VR can give you when you first start playing it. In the beginning I did some tweaking on different (control) settings to set it completely to my wished as there are quite some different options to try. Somtimes I just took a breath and enjoyed the beatufull Egyptian buidlings and drawings and then started blasting like crazy again. You won't be disappointed with this game. I'm really impressed by the graphics. I just finished the game having played for 23 hours according to Steam and now I am ready for more in part 2. Oh and I played this streaming from Steam to my Meta Quest 2 set.

This review is coming from someone who has finished TFE multiple if not hundreds of times, so I know what I'm talking about. I'm a relatively new VR user and I had to get TFE, TSE and BFE VR since I thought these would be my go to games to play in the format. I like TFE, but TFE is a game I don't get overly enthusiastic about playing because of how samey it feels whenever I come back to it. I much prefer TSE's levels, humor, secrets, gameplay and carnage more than TFE, but TFE has a lot of things that make it memorable like rewarding secrets, two hidden levels that the other games don't have, timeless gunplay and classic enemies and weapons that have made the series so important to me. So, I played this on a Meta Quest 3 with Steam Link. If you want a quick and dirty answer, TFE VR is good. There's obviously spots that are rough in the transition to VR, but at the same time this was a really good refresh of what we all know and love.and it made me actually want to play TFE for the first time legitimately in years. TFE VR has all the benefits of the flat screen version and in VR, many of the options and mechanics are still there to enjoy. The controls may have been awkward to use on first try, but after I got into my second session I found them to be very comfortable. Dual Wielding Weapons is by far the reason to get this version if you have the equipment, set up and money for it. I mainly dual wielded single shotguns throughout the majority of the first half and it makes the game pretty exciting, something I haven't felt in years of replaying it. Switching weapons, quick loading and saving, loading up NETRICSA, going into the pause menu is all relatively easy. I didn't find the controls to be absolutely convoluted and I only had slight technical hiccups in game that were resolved with adjusting my Quest's scale settings that boosted performance. The game is as you expect TFE HD to look, although there are liberties taken to avoid motion sickness, although some of these changes are for the worse since the final Ugh Zan Boss fight is MUCH slower with the rings you jump into being placed on the ground. All the difficulties you expect are there as well and movement is good, although turning the right stick makes Sam do this awkward backstep that is insanely uncomfortable especially when trying to get some of the more parkour like secrets. My main issue comes from the fact that the game kept asking if I wanted to play in safe mode every time I exited and then went back into the game. I have had no other VR Title do this to me whether it be Paint the Town Red or HL2VR. Since I initially played upstairs and my computer is downstairs, I had to constantly painstakingly go back and forth between rooms until I decided to just play downstairs in my living room where I got the best connection with Steam Link. It's annoying and I dread to see if TSE VR and BFE VR also do this. Overall I liked TFE VR and it brought some new life into this game that has become less exciting with time as there are other Serious Sam games that are much better than this, but I still recommend it if you're into VR or just started with VR games like I have. TFE is still a solid game and we all know that, but playing it in VR gives it an extra bit of edge and excitement that flat screen TFE just doesn't have. I'm looking forward to trying out TSE VR next.

Short and straightforward. A few zones are quite odd and much harder than the rest of the game. To beat it, you really need to focus on movement and properly utilize double wielding.

I have now played trough serious Sam for the first time. After trying to play through it multiple times traditionally. I really enjoyed it. Things to know tough. *You probably need to play around with both controller bindings in StreamVR as well as the VR settings in game to make it control as you want. Since it's made for Vive wands it has some really weird ideas on how to control the game if you use a more modern controller like the knuckles or any quest controller. *Quick save is your friend. This game have been crashing quite a bit for me. Unknown reason why. *You can actually turn off the lens flare. If you go in under custom graphics settings you can disable it in the bottom of that menu.
