It's worth playing. Good platformer with some nice puzzles but it is a bit shorter than I expected without searching for all the collectables.

TL;DR I really recommend the game, especially if you liked the first one and its universe. Teslagrad 2 is more about platforming that puzzle solving, and the gameplay/controls were extended and revisited to that effect with succes. The art direction in general, and the silent storytelling, are still amazing and make Teslagrad 2 a proper second installment of the series. Even if you didn't play the other games of the studio, give it a try! It is relatively short. More details So, let's first get the elephant out of the room: as you will notice with my play time, I'm no casual player of the game. I'm one of the main only speedrunners of the game. Thus, I'm not gonna lie, my first playthrough is a bit far away in my memories. But with the third anniversary of the game approaching, it thought it was way overdue that I added my positive evaluation to the game. The only other evaluation I left so far was for the first Teslagrad. I really enjoyed the universe, the visuals, the atmosphere, and the silent narration. I then played World to the West around its release, and this was quite a different - but still enjoyable - experience. So, well, you could say that I was hyped (and biased) from the start. But I wasn't disappointed. In Teslagrad 2, we play Lumina after the events of World to the West, so if you're story inclined, it makes it easier to understand the situation if you played the first games. In particular, like its predecessor, this game relies on silent storytelling, through cutscenes, screens (the analogs of the puppet theaters) and the usual collectible scrolls, but also through the whole environment, and as a novelty, some cryptic texts. I really appreciated to commitment to this philosophy once again. It also allows you to enjoy the great music and sounds from the game, reinforcing the atmosphere and contributing to the world building. Gameplay-wise, it extends the mechanics from the first game and it's still all about magnetism, but with a literal twist: rotation. On top of this, you have from the beginning the ability to slide. Indeed, while the first game is a puzzle platformer, this sequel is definitely more about platforming and free, fast movement. The world is more open and you have ways to go from one side to the other quite quickly. It feels great when you manage to zoom through the environment, finding how to preserve your momentum and circumvent the obstacles. This is the main reason why I have and am still speedrunning this game: it's fun and I don't get tired of it! Sure, it may not be my favorite game of all times, but I'm never bored of going back to it and play through it over and over again. While there is certainly space for exploration and finding secrets, there are sections of the game clearly made for you to just let Lumina go fast without stopping. I am fond of exploration and trying to complete the game as much as I can, even on my first playthrough. I don't remember my exact play time upon finishing the game, but probably around 6-7h (most people will do it faster, I am a slowrunner on discovery). I obtained 100% (minus some hidden Easter eggs) in around 10h. Now, as other people have noted, the game can feel kinda short, and unfinished, in the sense that it has so much potential that is not fully exploited, that it lets you longing for more. The reason is, this is literally what happened to the devs. But I am not the one in position to tell this story. So if you made it all the way through here, or enjoyed the game, I'd encourage you joining Rain Games' discord channel, because the team is also amazing with their community, and they are keen on giving anecdotes, behind the scenes, additional art, teasers for their new games, ... And you can share your love of their games with other people :) (I promise, I was not incited to do this, I genuinely appreciate their work and want to help them as I can ^^'). As a small note, for people mentioning some lags in scene transitions, this didn't use to be the case and is tied to the lastest version unfortunately. So, as a conclusion, I completely recommend playing this game! I truly think it deserves much more recognition and a larger audience than it has had. It was made by an indie studio which keeps delivering great games to their community despite the constraints, so here's to Teslagrad 2 and to what's coming next!

Teslagrad 2 is as if they took the 2 in the name Literal, everything was doubled on the sequel compared to the first title; more collectibles, a bigger map, more bosses, side content and more powers. Although gameplay was changed slightly, I believe it was necessary as Teslagrad 2 stands on its own and not just as a sequel to the first entry, and can be enjoyed without the need to play or know the story of the first one. If you played the first game then not much has changed in the overall structure of Teslagrad 2. Story wise, the game does environmental Storytelling. There are plenty of areas you can explore that give you context clues as to what happened. There are machines scattered across the tower as well that play a little silent film portraying what occurred with certain factions of the game. The collectibles as well which are cards show you the lore of specific characters and important events in the universe, which gives you a nice incentive to collect them if you want to see the full picture of exactly what happened in this world. If you have a keen eye and pay attention to the environment and surroundings, you can understand the calamity that fell onto the people of this world. Gameplay Wise its a little different from the first game, Teslagrad 2 focuses more on the movement aspect of puzzle solving, almost all puzzles are movement based. This disappointed me a little because the first Teslagrad was more focused on physic based puzzles and make you feel like you were using your brain more when solving certain areas in the map. To put it bluntly, Teslagrad felt like a MetroidBrania which I loved, and Teslagrad 2 felt like a 2D movement Platformer that so happened to be a Metroidvania which made it feel generic. Its not a bad thing per say as they did a good job and the gameplay loop is fun, but its different from what the first one established and not as unique. Some of the movement would not work correctly either, I would often get frustrated on certain areas of the map because for some reason specific puzzles or areas you needed to traverse through would make the character either get stuck or function oddly, so you had to fiddle with the mechanics a little so they would work in your favor. Overall Though Teslagrad 2 was enjoyable, The game is just as short as the first game, with the story progression being very linear like in the first title but then being more open once you get all your powers which allows you to explore the map and backtrack more freely so you can find all collectibles and do the optional side activities. Id say give it a go if you're a fan of Metroidvanias or 2D Platformers as the game is simple, fun, does not overstay its welcome and because of the length and compact design you have more motivation to 100% the game since it does not take too long to complete. I think for the length and content, the price might be a little too steep however, so if anything wait for a sale.

Majestic. Do not know how else to say how great it is. Does have issue where the game would stay at 30 fps but turning Vsync off then on again makes it back to 60 fps.

Really enjoyed this! Lots of unique & satisfying gameplay elements in this castlevania type game with a nordic theme being using powers of electric & magnets. Took me almost 4 hours to beat, although you could probably do it in 3 casually. The late game controls got a bit frustrating for me as they were quite spread on the controller, but I think there are options to change keybinds, I just didn't, so that's more of a me thing. The end game felt like it was kinda rushed or that there should be more content in the game, there were a few mechanics that they throw at you but only use once or twice so I was stuck on them for a while. Regardless of that though it was great quality & themes through.
