40 hours in and I'm going to recommend this game, with just a few big cons in the end that might spoil it for a few people. PROS: - 10 playing characters & 20 starting decks, with different skills & flavours. - The story is amazing, the world-building is great. More than that... it's actually credible, something very rare nowadays. - The amount of events is incredible. Even after 40 hours, there are still "new" events popping out even in the starting regions. - Different "stories" act as quests that you can gather through the run, each with different ramifications. There could be well over 4 different endings for each quest, if you choose to start them. - Some characters have access to different starting zones/stories related to their own "persona". - Combat is actually balanced and fun. - Everything can be unlocked in game, without MTX. The currency to unlock new gear/skills/characters/decks is gained through each run and you can consistently unlock more and more after each run. - There is a bonus on "not losing" a run, coupled with a button to return back after each region rewards you for choosing when and where you have enough. - It's a roguelite: each game you'll be presented with different cards, that scales in different ways, so choosing which one to use and which one to "discard" is very important. - There is an RPG variable in this: a lot of encounters have different outcomes if you increase a certain stat. CONS: - Since there is a very high emphasis on the narrative of the story, running it multiple times (especially the starting "main story") might become boring after a bit. - The curse system introduced in the higher difficulties is extremely punishing and not in a good way, imo. It's not just "enemies have more HP", it's very unforgiving and run-ending maluses. As such, I'm not a fan of higher difficulties, something that the DEV could improve.

Somehow, this game has become my favorite Deckbuiler, by a large margin, the ability to retain block is a game changer that has always made sense but scant few other devs had the guts to go all in, And I actually LOVE the way the story can unfold in different directions depending on your choices and build. Not to mention the glut of DLC that's available with even more stories and directions you can go. I feel with it in this "full game" state, it hasn't even reached the end of its potential, Allowing Steam Workshop compatibility/ Modding would make this game Legendary, being able to mod in our own campaigns, cards, enemies and main characters would go so hard.. who among us does NOT want to battle through a Gauntlet of Eldrtich Sesame Street characters until the final race against time to bring down CthElmo before we become too insane to fathom his presence, dooming the world to chaos as we stand alone, lost in catatonia?

Yeah great. Epic story of various routes going multiple ways...its like a card roguelight in the Fallout universe. But theres a lot of unknowlable stuff making it a tad difficult. Like what the symbols mean on the three choices you get when selecting your next route. RE-REVIEW - Well...yeah, it is a great game in some ways...but it looks like you have to literally play 100s possibly 1000s of times to afford the bonuses to new runs. Ive also noticed there are maybe a dozen times that you can rest.....but EVERY TIME coincidentally Im always near full health. 4, 5, 6 , 7 FIGHTS IN A ROW, you use the best of your brain and experience playing rogule lite deck builders...and boom...ANOTHER FIGHT which kills you. So Nope, no normal or beneficial places to rest....oooh I found a hotel. finally. Im at 20 HP after 5 or 6 fights....and NOPE.... some scumbags try to kill me whilst im sleeping and AFTER ive paid the hotel for 1 nights rest. - WIn the fight...and nope, u dont even get the chance to sleep and rest after that. ANOTHER THING...I have a card that reduces IMpreial cards by 3 points. Wow. This is epic. This will really help my play/run through....so which cards are my 'Imperial' Cards? NOPE. Nothing, zero, blank information on which of my cards are 'Imperial' cards. Tough luck U MOFO!!! Just keep suffering and not knowing because we the devs love to annoy and humiliate our customers!! Another thing REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLY starting to bust my balls ontop of the no place ever to rest is the ENGLISH translation, theres like 12 -24 times the cards or info doesnt make any sense because of very poor translation crap going on. It is a great game....but so many things are really adding up to being annoying AF right now...and Yeah.... Like i said, I apparently have to play 100s of times over - OR POSSIBLY 1000s to get enough upgrades to be able to win or progress against the harder enemies later on. You can do the maths yourself if you dont believe me. 1000s of times you have to play over and over to get the upgrades to pass the simple skill checks, beat the medium enemies further on and dont die from making the wrong decisions in the many many decisions that you choose. So, maybe I should have given this a negative in retrospective. RE-REVIEW So Ive had some feedback explaining the signs. Thats good. And worked out having multiple healing items in your deck is what you need to never need a rest. It is a really fantastic card roguelight, dont take my moaning to heart too much. I really enjoyed the 3 playthroughs plus dozen attempts at winning playing this game. The DLC looks interesting too. Tally Ho!
