AVOID | LACKING | MAYBE | WORTHWHILE | COMPELLING | UNMISSABLE She Remembered Caterpillars is a hand-drawn puzzle game focused on mixing colors to achieve specific positions on the 'board' given the limitations/allowances you have to consider for the color you are trying to move. The first sentence in the description of this game was enough to hook me and all I can really say is I am shocked this game isn't more popular than it is. It came out 8.5 years ago, but this was an absolute delight to play and seems like it'd be a popular pick for fans of indie puzzle games. The game features 40 levels among 8 acts. Each act introduces something new to the game. This included either a new color (and thus possible color combinations) or a new obstacle (bridges that have their own set of rules for passing, gates with the same, the ability to remove/change color, etc). While I breezed through the first ~15 or so levels, there were ~5 puzzles around the mid-game that had me questioning my intelligence. I brought in the big guns with some smart friends of mine and they too were equally stumped. We eventually figured them out, but it was a trying time lol. Generally speaking, the initial level of an act where it was introducing something new was quite easy, but by the time I got to the end of the 4/5/6/7/8 act, I was sweating. The game is fundamentally a programming game at its core, but implemented in the cutest way possible (fungipunk!!). Every solution is logical and precise (and sometimes simplicity really was the answer all along). The environment is calming and the music is very atmospheric. The art design is so pretty and the game just looks and feels good to play. While clocking in at 5.5 hours to complete the whole game (I got all achievements except two through normal gameplay, and it took like 3 minutes to get the other two once I had finished the game and went through chapter select), it's not the longest, but it felt like the perfect length for the type of game that it is. If you enjoy puzzle games and having a variety of difficulty from easy to brain-melting, then this is a lovely title to pick up. If you, like me, were pulled in by the description of a "fungipunk fantasy about love, loss, and holding on, told in the format of a color-based puzzle game" then I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Lovely little game with a unique concept and commendable polish. Stories that are this artsy and open to interpretation are typically duds for me, but a nice surreal atmosphere was conveyed regardless. Other minor nitpicks like strange achievements and rude pathfinding dampen the experience somewhat, but the logic was really exceptional toward the end. It's very beautiful, and I wish I played it sooner. Strongly recommend to all puzzle gamers. 8.5/10

A satisfying and beautifully hand-drawn puzzle gem with a well paced and incremental difficulty curve. The story is a bit weird, but it doesn't get in the way. I wish more people knew about this game. A complete recommend!

A Colourful & Engaging Puzzle Game A fun puzzle game that's not as easy as it first looks. Based around basic colour theory, with new challenges as you progress through the game. A touching tale of life and death is divided into short prologues starting each chapter. This and the level progression help break any repetition or monotony and I think 40 levels in total is a good length for this game. Don't let the playful art style fool you, this game is for all ages. Pros: - Playful art style. - Soft background music and sound effects. - Progressive learning curve. - Each chapter is short and can be revisited. - Easy Steam achievements (13/13 after 8 hours casual play) . https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3372953177 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3372958785 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3372959725
