[H1] A Planetary Fortress Defense Roguelike Bullet Hell with Fantastic Gameplay and Music Cute, awesome and addictively fun, Shooper Nova is truly one of the happiest accidental discoveries I have ever made. With a somewhat minimalist but adequate art design, ample combinations of weapons and power-ups to choose from, damage numbers that approximate the amount of particles in the known universe, and a soundtrack that rocked my world to Proxima Centauri and back, this game has quantum tunneled its way into my heart before I even knew what was happening. If you like BIG numbers and are looking to play a game where you can just sit down and shoot things that appear on your screen (bonus if you like space rock), then I 100% recommend this game. 8/10

Good and addicting. The translation is not well written. For example: Complete achievement: 10 simultaneously-existing satellites. Please at least write "10 simultaneously-existing satellites" in the same line or maybe write: "at least 10 satellites on the screen".

SHOOPER NOVA is a fast-paced, arcade-driven action game developed by Jamesika and published by Gamersky Games that fuses bullet-hell intensity, tower-defense logic, and roguelite progression into a tightly focused sci-fi experience. Rather than placing the player in direct control of a ship moving freely across space, the game centers its design around a rotating defensive core, reframing traditional shooter mechanics into something more positional and strategic. This single design decision defines much of the game’s identity, creating an experience that feels immediately distinct despite drawing from familiar genres. The premise is simple but effective: set in a far-future era where humanity relies on a central super-intelligence to survive relentless external threats, the player assumes control of a powerful orbital defense platform. Enemies swarm in from every direction, and survival depends on rotating the fortress to bring the right weapons to bear at the right moment. Instead of dodging across the screen, players are constantly reading enemy patterns, adjusting orientation, and making split-second decisions about prioritization. This creates a unique rhythm where spatial awareness and timing matter just as much as raw firepower. Core gameplay unfolds through a series of escalating waves, each more chaotic than the last. Destroying enemies earns resources that can be immediately reinvested into new components or upgrades, allowing the defensive ring to evolve mid-run. Weapons and modules attach directly to the fortress, transforming it into a constantly changing machine of destruction. Some builds emphasize raw damage output, others rely on elemental effects, area denial, or chain reactions, and discovering how different components synergize becomes one of the game’s biggest draws. No two runs feel quite the same, especially once the full pool of options opens up. Roguelite progression plays a major role in maintaining long-term engagement. While individual runs are self-contained, failure is never wasted, as permanent upgrades slowly expand your starting power and strategic options. This steady sense of growth softens the game’s difficulty curve and encourages experimentation, allowing players to push deeper into later challenges without feeling punished for early losses. Over time, the fortress becomes more resilient, more flexible, and more capable of handling the increasingly aggressive enemy patterns thrown at it. Enemy design reinforces this sense of escalating pressure. Early waves ease players into the mechanics, but later encounters flood the screen with projectiles, specialized units, and environmental hazards that demand constant attention. Boss encounters punctuate longer runs, acting as stress tests for your chosen build. Some reward precise targeting and careful rotation, while others overwhelm through sheer volume, forcing players to rely on synergies they’ve assembled along the way. These moments often define a run, either validating a clever build or exposing weaknesses that must be addressed next time. Visually, SHOOPER NOVA opts for a clean, colorful sci-fi aesthetic that prioritizes readability over excessive detail. Even when the screen fills with effects, weapon fire, and enemy swarms, it remains relatively easy to track what’s happening and react accordingly. The circular layout of the fortress keeps the player’s focus centered, reducing disorientation despite the constant action. Sound design supports this clarity, with sharp audio cues reinforcing hits, upgrades, and incoming threats, while the music maintains a steady, energetic pace without overpowering the gameplay. One of the game’s strengths is how well it accommodates different play styles and session lengths. Runs can be short and satisfying for quick play sessions, yet the depth of the upgrade system and the appeal of mastering specific builds make it easy to lose track of time during longer stretches. Higher difficulty tiers and extended modes add replay value for experienced players, ensuring that the challenge continues to evolve even after the core mechanics are well understood. That said, SHOOPER NOVA is unapologetically focused on its central loop. Players looking for deep narrative development, extensive world-building, or radically different modes may find the scope narrow. The game’s strength lies in refinement rather than breadth, repeatedly asking how many interesting variations can be extracted from its core systems. For many, this focus is a virtue, allowing the design to remain tight and engaging without unnecessary distractions. Overall, SHOOPER NOVA succeeds by combining intensity, strategy, and experimentation into a compact but addictive package. Its rotating-base mechanic offers a fresh twist on the shooter genre, while its roguelite structure provides lasting motivation to improve and adapt. Whether approached as a quick arcade challenge or a deeper exercise in build optimization, it delivers a satisfying blend of reflex-driven action and thoughtful decision-making that will resonate strongly with fans of modern indie shooters and roguelites alike. Fun, but lack of variety in enemies or different game modes gives it rather short lifespan. I still recommend it tho, and plan to revisit it later if some updates would land.
