Skater XL could be much better than it actually is. The devs are really unique in their approach to ignore their playerbase, I've never seen something like this before, especially not on an indie game. That being said, it's still the best skating simulation we have to date, especially with mods there is nothing that comes close.

It's better than skate.(4) I've purchased this game 3 times on multiple platforms, accumulating hundreds of hours free skating. As far as gameplay, good map selection (thanks mods), customizable character/board, and replay value go, this stands as one of the better skate sims to be playing in 2026. I can't speak much on Session, as it's not my preference. I can free skate anytime on Skater XL and keep myself entertained just putting lines together and editing replays. It's good sporadic fun for when you need that quick fix of skateboarding.

vanilla is meh, modded its unbeatable. the framework for skateboarding freedom and the community behind it is incredible. still hold out hoper for easy day..

Very relaxing game. i play it on my steam deck and the gameplay is very smooth. But it feels a bit empty without any content. you press play and just skate. tricks feel solid and the graphics are nice looking too. there is just not lots of things to do. But i like the game overall and if you like skateboarding like me and you want a game to just chill this is the perfect game for you.
