Super chill music, super chill vibe. You can micromanage if you want but also you can idle some and just let the game farm up. Then every once in awhile you face a new boss which makes you have to think about party composition. A unique take on idle/incremental progression that finds a medium between chill and indepth while not being too chill that it gets boring or too indepth that it gets overwhelming.

Edit: This is a review for others who've already beaten the game because i didn't go into full detail just my opinion on the game. after reading others review i realize some of the other things i feel, but didn't write. I still recommend the game for the price to all. ORIGINAL: It's hard to build an idle-ish game and for it to be an offline game. So, starting this review i will try to be reasonable with my concerns given that. The correct genre i believe is "Auto Battler" This game was fun. I played an entire campaign in one session and i had a lot of fun learning the systems. It had a really good balance of busy-work and progressing always keeping me actively doing something. I enjoyed the characters and deciding in which order i purchase them, and building a handful of unique teams based on the fights provided. Sometimes just one team didn't work i had to get creative with advantages of adventures when fighting bosses. However, my favorite team seemed to brute-force almost every fight. The last thing i think needs to be acknowledged is the fact that you can only do 3 battles at a time. The customers who go through your town clearly are asking for unique and old/obscure items that once you progress passed, you should never care about again. If you were able to run more than 3 ongoing battles you could be building a diverse store with a variety of quality and level items. I would have had more fun building a strategy involving how many fights i can have going on and pushing the limits of my best team and what they can do without max quantity of adventurers per battle. I would sacrifice farming the very best content if i can make multiple teams farming diverse items. I also wish there was a way to determine a focus on directing resources to the farm but not completely empty my potion store. Or in addition to that building keys without completely emptying my armor store. The ability to set a 60/40 ratio instead of 100/0 would allow to stay well-invested but clearly set your preference. The end game for campaign is building up a selection of premium items but i found the whole key system and chest not very interactive. Even when you can select specific items there was no obvious benefit to giving my adventurers weapons and it didnt feel like a big impact was happening when i bought them so fast and so consistently. Despite that this game was well worth the money and was a great entertaining experience with a special end-game mode that is kind of like a blind-draft mode. I have not given it much time but it seems fun, but very little interest in playing it. +1 I would buy this game at the price it's at again

Overall a great game. I've seen and heard people mention the game is short of a $10 title. However, I'd like to compare to Firewatch from 2016. That was a $20 game with about 2-4 hours of gameplay. $/hr is one factor people like to use. But I like to also use the factor $/quality, and with such a factor the game is definitely worth it, just like Firewatch 10 years ago. Onto the gameplay itself, I do like that a casual game like Skeleseller can appeal to someone like me who like micro-management and speed-running. I try finding the optimal path of progression, finding out ways to semi-automate the gameplay. Being a game with nothing about automation, I was surprised how many various ways you could find yourself optimizing progression. I really love the variety. Towards the end of the game, about 75% through, I played against the Yeti boss, and got absolutely demolished. At this point I decided to progress my adventurers a lot more. At this point I got stuck optimizing the level-up currency for about an hour, before realizing I'm probably strong enough to kill the boss now. I sure was, ending up melting the boss in a second or two. The remaining bosses had the same. I tried BONE mode for about 5 minutes. While I do see the appeal, I did have two obstacles/thought with it. [*]The menu of which you pick upgrades has a white background. While I know this is to make it look like paper, it did throw me by surprise, and as someone who often prefer dark mode, this was partially a blinding. [*]This is partially dependent on the previous point, but there was a surprising amount of reading in BONE mode compared to the story mode. While Story mode does have reading, I feel it's easier there because you learn what each thing you read is because you read it in the same place. In BONE mode however, the things you read switches every time you select it, which makes you re-read it every time you see it. As for the Story mode, some obstacles I have is minor but worth mentioning. [*]Whenever you're in the Buildings quick menu, it being an incremental type game, I wish there was a way for me to just click the buttons to upgrade (i.e. storage units) repeatedly without the "are you sure" popup every time. Either add a setting to disable it, have a checkbox of "don't show again", or a combination of both. [*]Very minor, but when you unlock the wheel menu when moving items around, it didn't immediately occur to me that the numbers on the destination is the hotkey. This is probably because the number shown didn't appear to look like a keyboard key but instead like a notification badge. All in all, I like the game, I recommend it and I'm happy with the price. There is some obstacles I could think of, but it's all things that can be fixed, so it's rather just feedback than things to make a negative review. Definitely give this game a try if you have your eyes on it. PS: I played this entirely on Linux, and it runs really well. Specs mention 1GB RAM and I barely saw the game go over it at all during the entire playthrough. I do have a 180Hz monitor but the game caps at 160 fps, which I didn't see drop at all during the time I played. So if you're on Linux, this is also one of the games you can play.

Is this game good ? It is. Is it worth the price? No it is not. What is missing ? Equipment management - give us a shop to build armor and weapons for our mercs. Why ? Because every game you are competing against does this. Let us min/max these dudes with equipments. Its missing. You just build up "level" via crops and thats it. Falls a bit short. Acient games like weapon shop fantasy or dragon cliff or swag and sorcery did more to come up with a good rpg feeling. I support Indie Devs so its a yes for me but to be honest it is kinda dull.

I mostly play FPS games, so idle-style games usually aren’t my thing, but Skeleseller surprised me. The idea of dying on an adventure and coming back as a skeleton running a town that hires adventurers to gather loot is pretty funny, and the gameplay loop is simple but satisfying. It moves at a nice pace, doesn’t drown you in crazy numbers, and is easy to just relax with for a bit. Definitely worth checking out.
