I say... Good. This is an adventure/RPGMaker/puzzle game. The graphics and music are exactly what you'd expect from something in this genre—nothing fancy, but they do the job. The story? Easily the strongest point. No bugs. No crashes. Overall, entertaining. This is episode 4 and the conclusion of the Space Pilgrim Saga (there’s another one, by the way: The Space Pilgrim Academy). It’s a simple game with mostly easy-to-solve puzzles. A funny space opera that'll keep ya amused. It includes Steam cards and achievements, and it’s cheap—especially on sale. You should play it from episode 1, though. The story is what gives it value. The gameplay? Basic. As expected from RPGMaker titles. I dragged my feet for 8 years to finish the whole thing—my review of episode 1 dates back to 2017. That’s what happens when you’ve got a massive backlog to attack. Still, this one was always lingering in the back of my mind. So I guess that makes it a little indie gem and kinda appropriate to be my 400th review. Time flies. I don’t think you’ll regret playing it. You’ll probably finish it faster than I did.

The conclusion of the Space Pilgrim series has a fittingly large scale. The puzzles are interesting and do not interrupt the flow of the plot. There are hints that surreptitiously guide you towards the solution without robbing you of the "aha" moment. The large character cast is engaging and brings back familiar faces from previous episodes. While the plot is more sombre, the game does not take itself too seriously with Gail joking about being in the habit of "collecting all kinds of random crap". There are call-backs to the earlier episodes, with Gail pointing out that the final mission is a more complex version of the first mission in the first episode. For the first time in the series I encountered a bug: in the Epilogue I got trapped in a corner between a console and Zubar the cat and had to load an older save. Other than that there were no issues. The plot was concluded satisfyingly with the sub-plots being resolved. This episode will not be as enjoyable if you have not played the previous entries.

I'm going to copypaste the same review for all Space Pilgrim games since they're basically one series split in four parts. A very fun and quirky lil game series about rebellion in a small sci fi setting. I enjoyed a lot of the background worldbuilding and the characters are very charming. Gameplay consist of straight forward fetch quest puzzles which is okay considering this is an RPGmaker game that costs very little.

You can check my review of the first episode for a more general review. Overall the Space Pilgrim saga is a pretty well done RPG (people debate that it's moreso a point and click than RPG since there's no combat) with some clever writing and endearing characters. I found there were some minor gripes with the pacing of the 3rd episode, but this final stretch of the Pilgrim Saga was worth the investment of the three previous installments. There's actually some choices to be made here that can affect the story, and multiple of the storylines wrap themselves up in a pretty satisfying conclusion. I thought the characterization of all the characters were pretty well done, nothing groundbreaking or extremely original in itself, but all of the elements come together for a charming little space adventure. The game I'd say will on average take ~10 hours to complete (episodes 1-4). If you're on the fence definitely pick it up on sale, if you're in the mood for a space adventure and an RPG maker title that's a little different check this out!
