They don't make 'em like this anymore... A unique blend of RPG and RTS from the 2000s, when companies competed by creativity rather than by shareholder value. For todays dopamine over-saturated brains it may take some patience to get into the game's pace, but once you do it's a wonderful journey with such a classic sound design. There is nothing else out there like Spellforce 1.
The Alpha and Omega of SpellForce. It was never the same after and never will be like this again. This is the true fusion of RPG and RTS. Nobody ever came as close as this to achieve that. There's nothing like it to compare. With all DLCs included, it has a huge amount of depth and playtime. It's sad that it's old, because due to dated graphics and early 2000's gameplay it'll not receive the attention it deserves. I can recommend this to any RPG fan who loves to have a choice between using RTS features or not on the fly. You are not forced to use Troops or build an army, in fact it comes with it's own ups and downs. The whole RTS element is more of a tool, rather than an enforced system. This is as unique as it gets for a long adventure. Lots of great class and customization options. Make your build any way you like, mix and match schools of magic with martial arts. Collect runes to expand your RTS army and upgrade them for multiple races. The writing is not bad and has a lot of mystery to it, but don't play it for the story, play it for the journey. If you manage to look past it's old looks and slight clunkyness, you will love this as oldschool RPG fan.
It's amazing, oldie but goody. VA Is dated and a bit...intresting at times but all in all its still a fantastic game. Same for graphics. You can solo the entire game if u feel like it, or build your city up and army and do it that way. Class customization is on point, lots of spells and weapons to choose from. You can 1v1 a skeleton horde one minute then building a ork city/army the next. It feels very much up to player on how to proceed with levels/quests. The add ons are fantastic to play aswell, you can even import your character from the base game if you want and continue playing as them in a whole new campaign. The whole rpg element is just great, the story is there aswell. Bit slow yes but still rewarding. You can quest aswell, not just the main one but side stuff. It can be difficult but there tons of walkthroughs to help out. Just buy it, it's well worth w.e the price is. You don't get games like this anymore.
