I want to be very clear about this. I am an avid tactical RPG player. This game is very good. It's a huge step up in acting and dialogue, but I expect that of a game with this prestige and budget. Unfortunately, I was told that the tactical combat would be a huge upgrade to what we've seen. It's a sidegrade at best, I'm sorry. The advancement is little more than "do 1 more damage." Feels like a real side grade compared to what felt like reasonably deep progression in XCOM 2, its clear ancestor.

SEE THE EDIT NOTE: I'll change this the moment it's corrected, but having to go into the UE5 .ini files in %localappdata% for the game and finding the config file to change the resolution because it had BARELY any options is baffling and I can't remember the last time I've seen a game launch with that issue. To those with the same problem: 1. Press Win + R, type %localappdata%, and hit Enter. 2. Locate your game's folder. In this case SWZeroCompany. 3. Navigate to: Saved \ Config \ WindowsNoEditor (or Windows, WindowsClient). 4. Open GameUserSettings.ini with a text editor like Notepad. 5. Use CTRL + F and search for one of the following: ResolutionSizeX= ResolutionSizeY= Put in your desired values. Again, baffling that the game itself had virtually no resolution options for me regardless if I had windowed, fullscreen, or borderless. Insane in 2026. EDIT: I am working to play through the game so I can review it on its merits. Performancewise is solid, quite so with good cutscene quality. A few people commenting have indicated they have options, so this may be an early launch bug affecting some configurations. I am going to change my review to positive but keep the instructions in place, as it appears there are still many that found the review helpful and likely suffered the same issue. EDIT 2: This issue can be resolved by downloading and applying the latest NVIDIA drivers. Cheers! I continue to play further today and update this to an additional, proper gameplay-driven review in time.

The graphics are amazing. The story so far seems interesting. The customisation is plentiful. I see people mentioning optimization issues but I have experienced none. I can see myself putting a lot of hours into this game. Edit: I died on beskar mode and lost my save. "The heart will break, but broken live on". After playing this game for around 6-7 hours and having no real issues. I can say it'll probably be one of my favourite games. My frames run around 50-60 fps but I do feel that single player story games can be enjoyed down to 30fps. I've had a lot of fun with customising the characters, there's a lot to unlock. And there is a lot of content to play. Overall I do think Zero Company is a fun experience and I do recommend it to anyone who enjoys X-Com style games.

Turn off the "environment geometry detail" setting in your graphics if your fps is tanking. i got a boost by 40 frames from that. Edit: i turned off my comments on my review because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ some of yall are unhinged, but i would like to add some other things here that were mentioned there. updating to recent drivers did personally increase performance by a non negligible amount, so make sure to do that. but some people were saying that neither this nor the geometry setting helped, but thats always the case when everyone's pc's are so differently built. will likely edit this again whenever i beat this.

Fun game but we honestly need to start slamming chairs over the heads of people who want to make their games in Unreal Engine 5
