One of my all time favorite SW games. I love the environments, and the action. I also like how this game isn't too long, or too short in the sense of duration. I hope this game can get remastered someday. I miss the days of LucasArts SW games.

Ah, another important game from my childhood before Disney got their filthy hands on the IP and made Star Wars squeal like a pig.

This expansion has some good ideas but overall less interesting that the main game, I think the curious minds will appreciate what it has to offer but don't hesitate to use cheats when you feel the game is too hard (especially during lightsaber bossfights). The level designing can be confusing and likes to play tricks on you, this is especially apparent during the last levels that have some pretty boring enemies and if you don't acquire the right force powers that are useful against them, you will struggle. Also same as for Dark Forces 2, you should use OpenJKDF2 to smoothen your experience with the game and make it more modern, don't worry it's easy to install.

How To Play Firstly, reviews are mixed because Lucas Arts released these games in an unacceptable state, they don't work on a lot of PCs. SO... Use the OpenJKDF2 source port to run these games, easy drag and drop install, they run flawlessly using OpenGL with updated graphical additions like SSAO and Widescreen and many other fixes. find it here https://github.com/shinyquagsire23/OpenJKDF2 Review Classic Post Trilogy Story As I said with Jedi Knight, this pair of games is my favorite in the Dark Forces series, but also possibly my favorite Star Wars games in general. With the disappointing Disney Trilogy, I think a lot of classic SW fans will find a lot to love about this series. As someone who has no real interest in reading the extended universe books, the Dark Forces series is an awesome window into the original story line, post original trilogy. We get to see the state of the galaxy, Dark Jedi, Imperial Remnant, the new Republic and Jedi Orders, etc. Expansion Done Right Mysteries of the Sith is a fantastic addition to the original game, being roughly the same length, and featuring an interesting story starring Kyle Katarn and Mara Jade. It is not just some throw away expansion, it has a ton of new weapons, all new assets and levels, new force powers, and a story that bridges the gap between JK 1 and JK 2 Jedi Outcast. Don't skip it, if you enjoyed Jedi Knight, MOTS is 100% a must play. Mysteries of the Sith is basically a whole new game built in the same engine, similar to what Lucas Arts later did with Jedi Academy being built on Jedi Outcast's engine. I would go so far as to say that MOTS is superior, it has more intricate level designs, more interesting locations to visit, and more story and characters to interact with. JK is more about facing down the Dark Jedi and fighting Imperial Remnant, classic Star Wars fare. MOTS, while it does start out that way, quickly evolves into a really fun smuggler style story line. There is certainly more variety here and I really can't overstate how much of a step up the locations you visit are from those in the base game. MOTS, at the time, had some of the best level design in the entire FPS genre, and by today's standards it's still impressive. it's kinda the peak of that intricate exploratory FPS level design that began with DOOM but fell out of popularity once an entire FPS campaign could be one seamless experience, like Half-Life. Cons The one thing MOTS does lack is the FMV cutscenes that are so much fun in Jedi Knight. In it's place we just have traditional 3D model cutscenes, but they are still very well done. When you see how the story progresses, it would have been much more ambitious and expensive to film this expansions cutscenes in live action than it was for Jedi Knight. ' Mysteries of the Sith ' is to ' Jedi Knight ' as ' DOOM 2 ' is to ' DOOM '. Mods There is also a remaster project available for both games, personally I think the game looks better with the original models and unfiltered pixel textures, but to some people it would be considered an improvement. These games do also benefit greatly from a few reshade filters: bloom, raytracing, ambient light, godrays, etc, just to spice up the lighting really.
