Learning to survive without emotion in a world without a vision of the future … is no life at all. Although the opening seems to be set in the present day, the story takes place in the distant future. Earth has been taken over by machines “The Singularity Machine“ and humans survive only in small communities, as dreamless wanderers or bands of outlaws. Jude, an experienced courier, was much like the world in which he lived. Cold, with the sole aim of surviving another day. One of his assignments leads him to an android girl named Philia. She is destined to be something more; she is unique. Sometimes naïve, perhaps a little reckless, playful yet with belief in goodness and desire to become human. They set off on a journey together across a desolate, cold world, in pursuit of their goal, and their journey becomes a path of learning and discovery. ... about realising that being cold, even in such a world, is not life. ... about realising that reckless faith in goodness leads to sorrow. Key, in a stunning visual design, this time they took me on a journey with Philia and Jude and once again completely turned my world upside down and touched my heart, in that way that only they can... „Your world is so cold, Jude… But your hands, when you hold me so I don’t fall, are warm. That’s not a programme. That’s you.“ (Philia) „I don’t want to be a perfect machine without a heart. I’d rather cry, I’d rather feel this unbearable pain of loss, because that pain proves that I loved Jude. Yes, I'd recommend this game. I've been reading this little by little the past two years before bed. Ended up dropping it halfway and rereading after forgetting the story. Fell asleep twice or thrice so the actual playtime is probably just around 10-15 hours. Took me so long to finish the game because the FMC initially really annoyed me, but everything else (story, art, music, atmosphere) is beautiful enough and successful enough in portraying a post-apocalyptic world, for me to keep going.
(8.7🌟) This game is honestly a great ride. It’s a kinetic visual novel, meaning the story is completely linear with no choices to make. It only takes about 8–10 hours to finish, so it doesn't drag at all. The plot follows Jude, a cynical courier in a post-apocalyptic world, who gets hired to deliver a "package"—which turns out to be a highly advanced but totally naive android named Philia. Their dynamic gives off major Tlou vibes, growing from a strictly business relationship into a really deep bond. This VN has amazing voice acting, Philia’s voice actor does an incredible job showing her shift from a stiff robot to a warm, human-like character. and unlike other VN that are mostly just talking, this one actually has high-stakes action scenes that keep you hooked. This one also has beautiful Visual and Amazing Soundtrack. But tbh this game is too short, the lore behind the post apocalyptic world feels a bit rushed and underdeveloped. Also few side characters pop up with tons of potential, but their storylines get cut short without a satisfying conclusion. And lastly this game has no replay value, cuz once you roll the credits, there is zero reason to play it again. (this is kinetic VN after all) Definitely worth a shot if you love emotional sci-fi stories and just want to enjoy a good narrative without stressing over dialogue options. (I hope this VN get an Anime adaptation)
