Beautiful game. Not often you see something that can touch your soul. Must play! Puzzles are difficult and different, so gameplay-wise the game is also can hold its ground.

Still There is a narrative puzzle game set on a space station. You play the lone regular guy on board whose job it is to keep things running and perform some basic monkey work each day for the corporation that put you there. The art style, music and tone of Still There is fantastic. The hand drawn art, vibrant colours and feeling of melancholy give it a comfy-game vibe while also being touching and meaningful - think Citizen Sleeper. However, the central gameplay loop (solving engineering problems aboard the ship using the ships manual) is absolutely jarring in comparison - abstract, difficult and often quite annoying. The story the game wants to tell is engaging and human but it doesn't know how to do the work to make the big beats land in the second half. While I applaud any game that wants to deal with topics like grief, loneliness and the struggles we all face when trying to deal with tragedy and stay connected to those we love, simply making your sad game sad doesn't make your sad game good. You still need good writing to make it feel real, the same as any game. And for me, Still There was lacking in that department. I can certainly recommend this game, but primarily if you have already played Citizen Sleeper and Observation. If not, I think both of those would be better choices for your time.

The art is very nice and I like that the setting is simple - a single 360 view of a small ship over the course of about a week. Unfortunately the puzzles weren't very entertaining for me, but perhaps that is just a me thing (some simple tasks like making and eating breakfast were cumbersome). I was interested in the story enough to play it to the end, although with a guide so that I didn't have to fuss with the puzzles. I found the sex jokes to be a bit tasteless and unnecessary. It would've been nicer to have different forms of comic relief, but maybe that's just me again. This game plays okay on the steam deck - not the worst, not the best, but manageable.
