The puzzles are much improved from the Horticulture (on account of not just the plants) + managing and sorting collection is much more convenient. The next game should be about a library.

I feel like this game is DEFINITELY more challenging than Strange Horticulture. There are far more resources you need to cross-reference in order to identify items, and luckily the quality-of-life improvements like the index at the back of the book were incredibly helpful for flipping through the DOZENS of artifacts and entries. While it's challenging, it's also forgiving. The minigame that you play to resume your attempt after too many failures doesn't reset the whole day, it simply brings you back to the last encounter you were on before you went insane, which is incredibly merciful, and the minigame itself isn't too hard. I also made liberal use of the hint button, which was very helpful, I especially appreciated the progressive hints, going from a more general "put you in the right direction" type of hint, to eventually directly telling you the answer if you were really struggling. It is a very fun and worthwhile puzzle game experience, and do highly recommend. Though, if you feel like you might need a bit of a more entry-level introduction to a game like this, I honestly think Strange Horticulture might be a better start!

A jeweller’s kind of game. You sit alone, hunched over your table, magnifying glass in hand, Parva Naturalia and Corpus Hermeticum beside you, and try to shed a dim, flickering light on the grim dark world around you, bring a little order to the ever-disturbing chaos of existence, one little strange artifact at a time.

After playing and loving Strange Horticulture I knew I had to get this one on day one! In fact I was so excited, that for 2 hours this afternoon I checked Steam every 5 minutes to see if it was finally out. Only 1 1/2 hours in and I can already tell it will be one of my new favourites. I love the dark yet cozy atmosphere the devs managed to capture. It's perfect for cuddling up with a blanket and big mug of hot chocolate (which is exactly what I did when I started the game for the first time today). The riddles are a bit more challenging than in Strange Horticulture, but I personally enjoy that a lot. There is a lot of mythology embedded into this game which makes it incredibly engaging. I can't wait to figure out every ending and find out how the story will unfold. I also enjoy how the UI improved compared to Strange Horticulture. Exploring your tiny Antiquities store is so much more fun now. I can't wait to absolutely most certainly 10000% not touch anything at all while Eli is gone 🤫 Thank you to the devs for the work you put into this game. You can really feel all the love, thought and hard work that was put into this game. Also there is Jupiter. Need I say more?? Edit after finishing my first playthrough: 10/10 as expected

I have been eagerly awaiting this game and I can truthfully say... IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! If they make a hundred more, I will play them all. Strange Literature, Strange Beasts, gimme all of them! If you loved Strange Horticulture then you'll love Strange Antiquities. It plays so similarly but they've added elements to make it feel fresh without changing its identity. The atmosphere is cozy and calming. The sound of the rain and Jupiter purring is enough to put anyone in the mood to solve a mystery in the ominous, gloomy town. The characters are interesting, the oddities are fascinating and the story keeps me hooked. Oh and the music! The music is scrumptious. I can't sing its praises enough. Just buy this game already! PS. You better pet the cat. Always. Hellebore will know if you neglect his friend.
