Right,since Im still waiting for Streets of Rogue 2 I might as well write this. Where do I even begin... This game is a definition of freedom in videogames. Once u start a run the game will tell u that u have a main objective and a side quest(different for every character and optional) thats all u get. It is only up to u to figure HOW to achieve ur goals, how fast or maybe u want to do something else entirely. The levels are well contructed,music hits the spot everytime as u progress to a different areas and most importantly, the world feels alive regardless of ur presence. I cant even wrap my head around how hard it was to program all that for it to also run smoothly after. There is so much stuff going on,so many different characters with majority of them being utterly insane it feels like the dev just decided to make every single idea he had into a game with no restrictions and boy did it work in spectacular fashion. Hands down one of the best indie projects I ever came across. Please,mr. Dabrowski,we need that sequel!!
Pretty fun. Spent plenty of hours on it. Game's simple enough that you can play through it blindly with only the tutorial to tell you how things work and even then you'll have no problem navigating through the rest of the game doing who knows what. And guess what, you can do it again in multiple ways making sure that the gameplay loop doesn't get old.
An extremely fun little roguelite. There are many characters to choose from, and they all play differently, for the most part. I am not much of a roguelite guy myself, but I find myself coming back to this game just to play a new character. The art's decent, gets the job done. the music is banging but I feel it could have more tracks, more variation. Balancing is kind of weird, especially as you go onto the later levels, but the overpowered gear and strategies is part of the game's fun. This goes both ways though, as you could die to unavoidable circumstances just because you're unlucky. RNG is the run killer, doubly so if you're hunting achievements. I was a bit disappointed playing the second game's playtest, even in its extremely WIP state I could sense that the game was going in a much more different direction than I anticipated. But it does not diminish the joyful timewaster that is SoR1
