Speedboat around, climb some buildings, and... you're done! I played this game a while ago, played again to refresh my memory for a review. This game is SHORT! My recent playthrough clocked the story finished at about 2 hours. In terms of gameplay, the story is simple enough, told through collectible diamonds, picturing events as a series of pictures. There is the MC's story, unlocked through story progression, and then there is the story of the City, which can be found scattered around the map. You have a wounded friend / brother and are trying to help him recover. You find important supplies, with key buildings marked with red flags to let you know where to find them, with things such as water, food, the ability to start a fire, etc. Survival basics. I won't give everything away but there is a mysterious green mould as well that plays into the story a bit. There is no combat. There are no upgrades (apart from speedboat boost, which is a redundant upgrade imo, when there's only 10 packages, thus 10 buildings to climb). Dialog is limited, and weird - there are english subs but when the MC speaks, some garble comes out. Once, I thought I heard 'eggs' get mentioned. Idk. 'Som nip' might have been another. You might have to crank the volume though, it is kind of muted compared to the instrumentals, which can get a bit too in-your-face. Boating around, it seems like every time I went anywhere some annoying beasties kept swimming near the boat, making annoying noises too. Visually, what you see in the store page screenshots is it. A few buildings are unique but for the mostpart it's kind of bleak and empty. The crane was a nice touch, but a bit of a slog to climb. Other buildings are all the same... municipal, hospital, etc. About the only really nice touch I thought was the day / night cycle... the visual style of night time was a bit more magical. __________________________ If you like parkour then this short game might sate your cravings, but because it is so short I can only recommend it as a casual filler, and be sure to get it at a massive discount. Thankfully it seems to get a massive discount pretty regularly, so no probs there.
This game is not long. I hundred-percented it in 5.6 hours. But I loved every minute of it. Like a lot of people say, you have to know what you are getting into. It's entirely exploration, atmosphere, and finding collectibles. This game is a piece of art to be enjoyed and experienced. There's not a lot to the story but I found it captivating and even though I will probably never play through it again it was worth my time and money and this little gem has a special place in my library. If you have a free evening and appreciate the little things I recommend giving it a try.
I think it's a good game but you really have to know what you're getting into. It's literally all exploration, meaning boating around and climbing ledges. Movement speed is decent, but there's a lot of ground to cover. Movement in early game is slow because the boat doesn't go far yet. There's no puzzles, except maybe figuring out how to reach a secret. What you do in the first 30 minutes is basically what you do for the entire game. I enjoyed it, especially after finding out the lore.
Seeing all the other reviews, the game might be tedious and boring for some, but I enjoyed it. Going through a submerged city overtaken by plants and oceanic wildlife on a small motorised boat is a fun little puzzle to solve as your task is to ascend the sky-high buildings and the ruins of the ages past looking for secrets and supplies to help your injured brother to heal. With some small annoyances of a smaller studio project it's still a well made adventure for an evening or two to relax and step back from the worries of the day. The reimagining of the world after a change in climate and living contidions, you're transfered into something familiar and yet strange. With the added bonus of the oceanic wildlife, you'll have a chance to get amazing screenshots of whales and race with the dolphins. The game has some accessibility issues such as: flashing light from the lightning when there's a storm and having to press down buttons for tedious lengths of time as well as some of the game time being at lower light conditions. The best accessibility features in the game are keymapping and that you can at whatever point in time just recall back home without spending effort to navigate back. Also there are no quick-time events or combat and you cannot accidentally throw yourself off a platform.
