For those getting this collection to play Battle Mode, here are some codes you should know about to unlock new stage layouts and extra features for each game. SUPER BOMBERMAN: 5656 - Turns all Bombermen tiny SUPER BOMBERMAN 2: Press the Right Bumper on your controller in the player select screen - This changes your Bomberman's color 5656 - Enables sudden death SUPER BOMBERMAN 3: 5656 - The winner in battle mode turns golden 1511 - Unlocks a harder CPU level in battle mode 4622 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts A 1616 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts B 3194 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts C SUPER BOMBERMAN 4: 7777 - The winner in battle mode turns golden 5656 - Disables super attacks cooldown in battle mode 0164 - Unlocks all mounts in battle mode 4622 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts A 0520 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts B 0903 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts C SUPER BOMBERMAN 5: Mash the X button at the title screen until you hear a confirmation sound - Unlocks battle mode stages 11, 12, and 13* 1103 - Unlocks Super CPU level in battle mode* 0110 - Turns all soft blocks into power ups 4622 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts A 0413 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts B 0926 - Alternate battle mode stage layouts C *Super 5 has a battery backup, so these settings are saved even after shutdown. SUPER BOMBERMAN COLLECTION: Input the Konami code at the seizure warning screen before the screen fades into black, the main menu will change its color from yellow to red to indicate the code has worked - SB1 enables tiny mode, SB2-5 unlocks stages 11 and 12, SB5 also unlocks stage 13, these stages are only unlocked temporarily, after shutdown you will have to input the Konami code next time you boot up the game. Issues with the game speed? In the main menu go to options, then go to display settings, be sure Vsync is set to OFF, if you had no issues with the game speed in the first place then it is safe to leave this ON and might even be preferred. Overall this is a nice little collection, although I feel like there's some games missing that could have been included as well, like Panic Bomber W, the PC Engine/Turbografx-16 or the Game Boy games since they have Super GB support, but it is still nice to have these games easily available and have SB4 and SB5 be officially localized into English. FEBRUARY 13 UPDATE: SUPPORT FOR STEAM REMOTE PLAY HAS BEEN ADDED, it is now possible to host an online game for friends even if they do not own the collection, although each player will require their own gamepad as keyboard input is not supported.

This is a wonderful collection and it is the official debut of several Bomberman games that never released outside of Japan before, now fully translated! There's the usual Rewind/Save state option, a simple optional CRT filter and various display modes/background art to choose from, and each game gets a unique battle mode with its own high score table and difficulty options. The presentation is quite polished and you can inspect 3D recreations of the original game boxes, take the cartridge out, and read the manual. There is a gallery with high-resolution concept art, organized per game - and also a music player complete with a dancing Bomberman, Everything about the presentation is very polished and well done. Sadly there is no online multiplayer, I can somewhat understand that given the original platform these games were on - but the developer should at least leverage Remote Play Together so that the games can still be played with friends over the internet on Steam. The game runs at 90hz on Steam Deck, but the game logic still seems to run at 60fps. The developer should probably lock it to 60hz to prevent issues for some people with higher refresh displays. At $20 this is a great package, especially if you have a Steam Deck, a few joypads, and some friends around. There's 7 games to play, and many of the later Super Bomberman games are quite surprising and well worth playing. Hopefully this is just Volume 1, and we will get more collections covering Saturn Bomberman, Bomberman Fight! And the N64 and PC Engine games.

If you're wondering what the guy with the Bomberman avatar thinks about the surprise Super Bomberman Collection, he thinks you couldn't ask for more. It's outstanding. Seven games including two newly translated ones (SB 4 and 5), a new boss rush mode, achievements, art gallery, music gallery, cloud saves, scan lines, rewind, save states... for twenty bucks! Feels like a birthday present even though I bought it. The emulation is well done, nothing about it seems off. Right now there's a glitch where the game speed is too fast when v-sync is enabled and it's enabled by default, but turn it off and everything runs as it should. I assume that will be patched up shortly but until then I haven't noticed any screen tearing with it off, even when scrolling the screen. Bomberman is one of my all-time franchises, and this collection is an ideal way to bring a large handful of its better early games to the digital age. Fingers crossed the collections keep coming like they did for Castlevania.

FINALLY SOME JUSTICE FOR HUDSON SOFT!!! Konami actually put effort in adding all the little details with the boxes and UI of the old SNES bomberman games, it took too long for this to happen but i'm glad they finally did it, this is one of the best and i hope they add all Bomberman games and i meant ALL OF THEM, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, PC Engine, Playstation, Xbox Live, Nintendo 64, Playstation 2 and the list gooooes on! i still don't accept what you did to Hudson team but i can give you a little respect on the effort you did for this, the games works really well but there's a bug with V-sync that makes the game super fast, as long you fix that, it should be good. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Bomberman is one of my favorites!
