i feel like the most powerful man in the world in this game. nothing can, or will, stop me—ever. i will watch the world burn at my hands while I recline back in my adorned throne, my couch. all the mayhem i have caused will pay off its own debt under my economy. there is only one country. there is only one empire once my conquest is complete. i am the only czar who has sown this nation into each others and i will not stop until every confederation in the land has been forged. and this... this is just the beginning.

Pretty good game in the mechanics part.. the downsides are its VERY VERY Hard to understand in the beginning. Balancing the budget will leave one yearning for cheat codes of some sort but that adds to the immersion. Another HEAVY downside is the WEAK WEAK WEAK battle animations. This game could be so much better with a better battle simulation.. something like Wargame would be over the top but there are other battle animations that would have worked then what they have in this game. The Politics of the game are Very very iffy... Nations in the game do NOT consider the repercussions of Nuking smaller countries as they do in real life.. using a Nuke DOES upset every other nation at the person that uses the nuke but that anger at the nuke user does NOT last as long as it would irl. China in particular is VERY aggressive & QUICk to nuke you for just making more money then them as a smaller country and thats just not like china irl regarding its war strategy.. it would sabotage your nation and attempt subversion before simple nukeing and invading a country... Overall from 1-10 in comparison to "shadow president" (which came out as a leader simulator before this game but limits you to playing as the US), I would give super power 2 a: 6.8 /10 ... The game gets a lil boring when youre budgeting and building your economy.. and the global politics are not realistic at all. In Shadow president every action you take gives you a lil animation IE surgical strikes or assassinations & that game was made in like 1996 or so.. While super power only gives you text messages and blinking countries when there are actions happening. On the Upside the world looks great.. the Creation of your countries military units is pretty cool... but you never really get to see those created units in action against other forces.. i swear the battle animations are sooooo weak... Honestly everytime i think to play the game these days I decide against it because the battles are corny and china is a wild card I can never avoid going to war with anytime i gain economic power.. is it worth the 10 bucks it cost? yes.. definitly.. but dont expect some epic level exciting game play.. its more of a casual make choices game then an action packed strategy game.. Sim City is more fun then SP2 in the end.. If someone is looking for a game similar to the old 'shadow president' game then SP2 does not disappoint and will fulfill that yearning, but if your looking for something like Wargame reddragon level excitement in battles etc look elsewhere.. this game is NOT for those that want visual battle simuli & strategy..

Amazing game that still holds up great today. It is the perfect mix of a global simulation that is not to complicated but deep enough to keep you hooked. Nothing is more fun than taking a smaller country like Zambia, building it up and conquering half the globe against all odds!

Well this has been sitting in my library for at least 3 years, completely untouched. So the fact that I just played 2.2 hours straight doesn't mean that I have to decide whether to keep it - I'm well past the time to ask for a refund. I avoided playing this because back when it was available in a box, before Steam was around, it had such horrible reviews that I just stayed away from it, but I wondered about it too. The few people who liked it REALLY liked it. Then I decided I'd try to find a tutorial video, and I found one on youtube that was 45 minutes long, and after watching it, it felt like the game was suddenly approachable and interesting. So I gave it whirl. I should have been in bed 2 hours ago, but instead I just couldn't stop playing. Really so far "playing" has meant nothing but moving sliders around. Changing the tax rates and changing allocations between agencies. It's a big juggling act trying to decrease corruption and increase approval rating, while trying to get into a net positive balance. [The UI is really confusing though - I don't understand some of the basic UI controls, but that's also my fault for not playing the tutorial too.] The draw is that eventually I can crank up the research and start designing my own tanks and other military technologies, and that sounds pretty fun. I haven't gotten that far - all I've done is lower my corruption, lower inflation and increase approval. But those little rewards go a long way, and I think this is a keeper.

This was the first game I got on Steam: the reason I got Steam was so I could buy Superpower 2 and Portal. I watched Commissar Bro's videos on the game back in 2014 and saw how interesting it was. For those who play grand strategy games, it's enjoyable from time to time. The gameplay isn't perfect, but mods can help. It might be the most underrated strategy video game ever.
