Yes, at times it was corny, some plot twists were nonsensical and on the nose. The puzzles were mostly made for children. Some of the characters (although, not many) were irritating and two dimensional (I especially hated Katyusha). However: It's the first game in the series since the original Syberia that made me feel... Something. It made me feel engrossed in its world, it made me feel for Dana Roze. It felt... Personal. Emotional. Nostalgic even. In a way, I felt as a little kid again, playing the first game for the very first time. And despite all its flaws and the Unity jank, this much is enough for me to recommend it to anyone who liked Syberia. Besides, it looks beautiful. By the end credits, Vaghen felt like home, charming, idyllic and comforting. Certainly one of Sokal's best works.

Now this is a proper point and click! (unlike the 3rd game) Such a nice story, and fun puzzles. Before playing it I thought it has some sort of time travel, but no. Past events are told in stories or letters. The location is amazing with lots of automatons and great music. Pros: -Story and puzzles: quite good. Had fun with most of the puzzles and the story had some surprises. 9/10. -Music and sounds: these are good, sometimes even great, so 8,5/10. -Voice acting: the beginning is a bit rough, but after the first few chapters, Kate sounds like ever before (she has her reasons why). Most support and main characters also having good actors. 8,5/10. -Graphics are great regarding the art style, technically some of the character models could be better. But the environments, buildings and scenes look amazing! 9/10 for the scenes and city and 7/10 for the characters. -Controls: finally works with mouse and it's precise! 9/10 (some scenes have clunky camera movements and angles, but overall light years ahead of Syberia 3) -Stability: I played it twice, no crashes, freezes or softlocks. Worked wonderfully, fast load times and scene transitions. 9,5/10. Nice work on the development side! -Cons: no option to skip dialoges for the second playthrough. I understand for the first time though. Overall 9/10, enjoyed my time with it. 28 hours for every achievement is a decent time, so it's worth it even at full price. At a sale? Totally worth it even with 30% off.

I'm so glad I took a chance on this game. It's a beautiful work of art. Syberia - The World Before shares some similarities in gameplay to the Life is Strange series, but with older characters, a wartime theme, and some puzzles. I did have to look up a few solutions online, but overall, the game holds your hand and guides you almost every step of the way. I laughed, I cried, and I was honestly surprised by some of the plot developments. I definitely recommend it, especially to older gamers looking for a slower, relaxing, story-rich game.

This is actually more a movie (80% of time) than a game (20% of time). Nonetheless, this game is the final Syberia by Benoît Sokal and has an extremely rich story, a true legacy he left behind. RIP Mr. Sokal! Like stated, it is mainly a movie with few interaction and the puzzle are few.

One of the best games I've ever played. What a story, drama, characters, atmosphere, puzzles! No words needed. Thank you, Benoit Sokal.
