Too wholesome for a gooner game. Actually good writing and charming characters. Only criticism is that the actual gameplay is so slow and tedious that you need to cheat to get all the endings in one go. However, I do think the pros outweigh the cons so get it on sale if you can.

I really enjoy Taiwan Love Story. The individual stories of each character are quite enjoyable. While they might not be deeply impactful, they add depth and personality to the characters. The mini-games to collect money and boost stats are easy at first, but trying to complete all the character arcs can become repetitive and tedious. That said, the characters are lovable, and their scenes are rewarding and pleasant to experience. The voice acting is also quite good and adds to the overall enjoyment.

Having cleared all the routes and 100% the achievements (Not hard as all stuff is literally just tied to progression point so playing through everything will unlock all achievements), I feel like I'm in a position to give a fair grounded review of this humble little gem of a nsfw game. I'll start off with a simple verdict for those of you with short attention spans and then go into more depth for anyone who wants my full take. I do wholeheartedly recommend this visual novel* with some mini game progression mechanics (*calling it a game is a bit misleading as you're really just along for the ride and won't have much say in anything that happens) but I do think the asking price is a bit high as its doesn't have a lot of content so i would suggest getting it on sale unless you really are feeling charitable. More in depth review. General personal thoughts: As I briefly mentioned already, this isn't so much a game as it is a visual novel, when it comes to the various heroines and their story arcs, you won't have any say in how you interact with them. While the game*, does have a whole dating system at its core for progression, there really no way to completely fail at this, worst case you'll get a smidge less affection points that time. In fact I'll go a step further and say that really that whole system just exists to pad out the play time, still I never found it tedious, repetitive sure but the respective character arcs were interesting enough that I was more then willing to do the minor grind to unlock the next part. The Bad: - Not a lot of nsfw content in this, so definitely will be a bit of a disappointment for anyone who wants a ton of erotic scenes. - BGM is a bit of a mixed bag, some tracks worked well others not so much, still I would say keep it on. - If you're not used to hearing stuff being spoken in Chinese the audio might be a bit jarring at first (still would recommend it, if only for the unique cultural experience) - Overall the whole thing is short, which is a shame as the characters are bursting with potential. I can only assume it was budget limitations that kept that way. - No harem route (in all fairness the none of the heroines are written in a way that would make such a possibility be viable without the writing feeling incredibly forced). - Some heroines lack as much variety in nsfw scenarios as others, even though all have the same number of nsfw scenes. - Despite getting mentioned several times as being big and amazing, you'll never be treated to truly glorious view of Sarah's rump. - No Ryan (MC/User's best bro) x Policewoman bonus side route (come on Devs, how you gonna tease us with Ryan finally getting a possible win and then just leave it up for speculation) - Game doesn't tell you that you have exactly 1 year to finish things up before starting a New Game+ will be mandatory to complete things fully. Basically the game soft locks itself after a year (Feb 2024- Feb 2025), due to wanting to end on Valentines day. - Buses on the road with their massive hitboxes can go to hell. - Asking price, its too high, 10 dollars would be a fairer amount given the limited content. The Good: + Character art is topnotch in quality. + All character related art and scenes are L2D* (* in simple terms, animated) + While nothing incredibly deep or groundbreaking, the writing for all character arcs was engaging and enjoyable to see through to the end. + You can name the MC whatever you want. +/- MC isn't some faceless dude (this might be a minus for some folks hence the dual mark). + SD character images in game are cute and funny. + You'll get to see a rich girl use a fat stack of cash as an effective melee weapon. + Heroines are all cliche archetypes but still feel interesting and unique in their own ways. (Also, ffs Sarah you're 34 you're not even old enough to qualify as a cougar yet, stop calling yourself an old woman. I'm 37 and I'd get slap upside the head by several of my aunts if I called myself an old woman) + You can ruin the top of the water gun shooting range mini game employee if you shoot her enough. + Game* is uncensored by default. + All VA picks* (*at least for Chinese) fit their respective characters perfectly. + Game* actually offers a intuitive tutorial right before you officially get started that clearly explains pretty much how all the core mechanics work. It also provide minor tips along the way in case you're some how having trouble figuring things out. + New Game+ (its not called that but after reach February 2025 and picking 1 girl, you can then go to Start New game and it will ask you if you want to carry over your stats from previous session). + Each heroine arc is treated as an completely isolated event which is to say, you won't have to worry about being disloyal to any of the other girls as game/plot arcs don't act like they are all going on at the same time. + Mainland China's obsession with Taiwan makes a lot more sense now. Gameplay Tip: If you fail to to max affinity and see all Heroines' respective endings through before the February 2025 (ingame), when you start New Game+ just focus attention on the characters you didn't finish the 2nd time around, the game will automatically reach its final moment. So don't fret about having to go through motions of having to focus on all 5 again just double down on those you still need to do. Its unfortunate that affinity bars do get reset but with stats from past playthrough already maxed or almost maxed you'll be able to focus most of your action points and cash on dating which will make things go by quicker. Closing statement: This a short but sweet little experience that will likely leave you craving for more by the time its all done. This a good thing to just kick back and vibe to if you like a little bit of romance with a bit of spice but don't want to have to think too deeply about things, and if you're really inclined, even get a little self gratification on the side when things do get steamy, if thats how you roll (Wink, Wink), I'm not judging. The game* really is more about the romance and relationships then the erotica so definitely think romantics will get more mileage out of this then those dying of thirst. Still I'd say if you're giving it serious consideration, go for it but do so when on sale.

This is a 100% achievement completed review (9.5 hours taken to complete all 5 routes). This is a must-buy for fans of Happoubi Jin's art, as the art style of TLS is very similar. I enjoyed my time spent and would recommend buying TLS at current pricing even though it doesn't quite hit the '$1 per hour rule' that many people try to follow, including myself. Even though there is only 1, there's a Milf of the highest quality tier as 1 of the 5 women you can date in Sarah so that alone is worth the price tag (fellow milf connoisseurs, rise up!). H-scenes are all animated and the writing is very foul-mouthed, not that I mind, but it definitely stands out compared to writing style of your average VN. This caused quite a few laughs and adds to the positives once you get used to that vibe, especially in the storyline of a certain blonde. The one thing that might turn you off is the scooter minigame, which is essential to manual in the starting few weeks. Very Taiwan lore accurate indeed, but it'll make you fear middle road drivers more than anything else in the world...probably. What that exactly means is something you'll have to find out for yourself, but what I will say is that you shouldn't get overly annoyed and don't keep retrying to complete a full 60 seconds because surviving for 30-40 seconds is enough already, as there's plenty of time to complete all 5 routes before the end (I had 10 weeks left at the end). All in all, TLS distinguishes itself from the average ero VN in various ways and is one of the best ero releases in the past few years, and certainly in 2024, where it competes directly with Summer Clover (same publisher) for ero GOTY 2024.
