Amazing game, very fun flowy movement and mechanics, some of them are not as fun as the others but that's always gonna be a case when every chapter is based around different mechanic. The difficulty for me is just about perfect, providing a constatant bit of a challenge while not being much of a struggle at any point. Probably pretty difficult without a bit of an experience with precision platformers I guess, most likely not the easiest game to get into this genre. Art is really good, music is nice. Nice playtime of ~20 hours to 100% the game.

A wonderfully creative and fun platformer with a surprisingly warm and charming story. I think those that both love platformers like Celeste and who are intimidated by platformers can find enjoyment in this. It balances fun and challenge in a way that few games do. I really recommend trying out this gem of a game.

As you can tell from the reviews, it's nearly impossible to talk about this game without mentioning Celeste. Sure, it's got a lot of stuff in common on the surface--a red-haired protagonist, a heartfelt story, precise platforming, beautiful pixel art--but it's the pacing and perfectly-tuned difficulty that make it feel the most like Celeste. Which is why if you enjoyed Celeste, you should play this game. Normally a comparison like that feels lazy or unfair to the developer, but they absolutely nailed it. If you like that, you'll like this. It's that simple. Each section of Mae's journey comes with new twists on the core tether platforming mechanic, culminating in an incredibly satisfying finale that mixes and matches them all. Most platforming challenges can be completed in a matter of seconds once you work out what you need to do, and they are almost always rewarding to pull off. Seriously, if you can "sight read" a puzzle and nail it in one go? It feels amazing. Chasing that high is what had me coming back over and over. I think the length of the game is perfect, but I finished wanting more (a clear sign of a very fun core mechanic). I wouldn't call this game easy, but if you've beaten Celeste, you can beat this. Be warned, if you used some of the accessibility settings in Celeste to get through certain parts, this game does not have those. I never rage quit this game, but I definitely gave up on collecting the optional flowers about halfway through for my own sanity. I like that they're tied to the narrative though. I enjoyed the little bits of story and conversation between new levels and that you could engage with them as much or as little as you like. My only negative was that the color gradient overlay in the last level made certain elements a little hard to parse for me. I definitely had the Steam Deck extra close to my face for that bit. Speaking of the Deck, it runs excellent on it--I played the entire thing either directly on it, or docked with a controller. Other than that bit, the visuals are excellent. They've packed these little sprites with tons of character and expressiveness. TetherGeist is a propulsive, thoughtfully crafted, wonderfully challenging precision platformer. I highly recommend it.

okay so i want to say first off, absolutely ADORE this game, but! THE BOUNCY MUSHROOMS ON THE WALL FREAKING SUCK. they dont feel fun to bounce off of and most of the time it just doesn't let you bounce to where you need to go and they feel half-baked. and also when you die the camera movement feels a little weird. anyways good job to the devs for making this game, but if you can, FIX THE DANG BOUNCY MUSHROOMS ON THE WALL!!!

I came for the Celeste-like experience, and CHERISH my new little axolotl buddy. Still early in Tethergeist, but it already has that "one-more-try" flow state vibe I just love in platformers like this. The controls also feel just like what I'd expect as well. Just so fun! Might end up being one of my favorite games of the year.
